Angry Power Steering Help

I have an 07 Titan King Cab. It is not driven daily and it has developed a power steering pump whine. I checked the reservoir and levels seem to be fine a little past cold max fill line....bought in December just over 1000 miles and no service or fluid changes yet. Any help or suggestions before service appointment tomorrow.....seems service adviser I spoke with to make appointment wasn't listening today so want to go prepared with info tomorrow. Thanks

Re: Power Steering Help

Could it be the belt slipping? Is it just at full lock, or anytime you turn?

Not sure what full lock means I notice it when turning, it is just driven on road, town, city and highway, no off road......son-in-law backed up and turned it in my circular drive and also noticed it...I noticed it on drive down road last week....Son-in-law also mentioned fluid in reservoir was foamy on top like air was getting in system ?????

Full lock means when the wheel is turned all the way until it stops.

Re: Power Steering Help

Then no it is just regular turnng and thanks for the info on full lock....I know it is covered what ever the problem may be, but I like some info under my belt when confronting repair people who like to make women out as total morons. I have had so many try but few have done it LOL !!! My dad taught automotive mechanics and I wasn't allowed to drive until I could change the plugs, oil and tires

Re: Power Steering Help

Good deal, everyone should know how to do those things. I have bought all my nissans from the same place, so they treat me great. If they give you any hard time at all then tell them I guess I will never buy another vehicle from them. If they treat there customers well they will have repeat business.

Re: Power Steering Help

Do this, while the engine is running and the noise is there, squirt some water on the belt. If the noise goes away immediately, then the belt needs to be replaced, a 10 minute job.

Re: Power Steering Help

My '06 with 3000 miles is doing the same thing on occasion. It's done it bad once and just slightly several times. It doesn't always do it so I haven't taken it in yet. Let us know what you find out.

Re: Power Steering Help

Crash, I had a clattering tin can chirp noise at cold startup that I thought was a bad bearing on the alternator, belt tensioner, steering pump or even the timing chain tensioner. The water spray test eliminated those possibilities. A new serpentine belt and all is quiet, I only had 5300 miles on it when the noise started.

I've heard of a few Titans with that problem. The Dodges in 2003 were losing R&P's left and right. Must be the same manufacturer
