Transfer case being replaced - 6k miles

I was working under my truck last night (installing some sweet SAW's ) and noticed a small puddle of red fluid under my T-Case.

So this morning I took it in - the service writer confirmed a leak and says that Nissan is recommending that they replace it (under warranty). Anyone else have a problem with their T-Case, especially this soon (6k miles)?

Re: Transfer case being replaced - 6k miles

I must be the only one with two 2005 Titans that had clear trany fluid in the T-Case's from the factory. Maybe it is a 2005 thing.

Well at least they are replacing the T-case for you.

a loose nut? I need to get back under there and have another look. I haven't seen any more leakage, i'm having second thoughts about letting them replace the T-case. If it ain't broke...

That OR trip was a lot of fun! Thanks firulice for posting the pics!

I'm looking for a cheap rock crawler now

Red face Re: Transfer case being replaced - 6k miles

My '05 was leaking through the drive shaft seal of the transfer case. At 15,000 miles they replaced the transfer case, under warranty, and now my seal is leaking on the passenger's side seal for the CV Shaft

Re: Transfer case being replaced - 6k miles

I'm pretty sure that's where my leak was, at the shaft seal - but it stopped leaking so I'm not sure. I guess I'll let the dealer replace it and we'll see what happens.

Thanks for the input.

Re: Transfer case being replaced - 6k miles

Had leakage for the last few days...
Dealership says it was some loose screws on the transfer case, and re tightened it...

Would it be too much to ask for a new transfer case, or should i just let it go??

Re: Transfer case being replaced - 6k miles

I had my front seal replace ones, and 3 loose nut... Transfer case works good no weird noise or anything wrong with it....

But if they are going to replace it I will let them do it...

THanks for sharing the pictures, it looks like a badazz trail. Did you go thru the whole trail, how did the titan perform compare to the other vehicles?

and where is your Titan Firulice?

Re: Transfer case being replaced - 6k miles

We dropped the Titan off part way through when it got too harry. Messin up the expensive toys isn't as fun! My Titan was at home that day in the garage awaiting her saws and fender flares but we posted some pics of taking them out this last weekend on another thread... let me know if you can't find it

Like Firulice said the Titan didn't make it too far down that trail. Since starting this thread I picked up a built 2000 Cherokee Sport with a 7" long arm suspension and 35's on 15's. Got it for a great price, but haven't had it out on the trail yet though.

So I picked up my truck from the dealer today with a new transfer case. No leaks yet.

They put me in a Dodge 1500 for a couple days - it's nice to have my Titan back!!!
