Well, it was bad enough reading all the threads about the rear end failures. Now there seems to be cases of front end failures. These two components are, in my opinion, the weakest points in the design of this truck. It's unfortunate that those two components are also part of what makes these things move.
I have several questions about this issue:
1) What is preventing the aftermarket from providing some type of upgrade?
Is it the oddball gears (2.94:1 & 3.357:1) that are in these trucks?
2) Why is nothing available, other than the "updated" Nissan 4 spider gear setup?
I think many owners would be interested in a "surefire" fix for both the front and rear problems, or at least the rear. Some type of package deal that would almost guarantee overcome these weaknesses. I understand that an upgrade like this could easily go into the $2k+ category, but would be worth it. Surely there is some Titan owner out there with the money to accomplish this and another one with the know how. Seems like there is alot of money to be made on this.
3) What is the difference between our "modified" Dana 44 and a standard Dana 44?
I read somewhere before about different axles/splines, etc. Is there more to it than that?
4) What is going to happen once these things start to fail on vehicles with over 60,000 miles on them?
This problem isn't getting better, as it seems there have been issues on 2004-2006 models. Are the 07's fixed? That remains to be seen. There are still a boat load of 04-06's that have had no issues. I believe that they are going to fail though-sooner or later. For a large percentage, it is unfortunately going to be later (after 60k) and they will be on their own to fix these. Doesn't Nissan think that this is eventually going to catch up with them?
5) Apparently this is not a simple fix?
If it were, someone would have jumped all over this issue by now, realizing the potential to make some money.
Just some random thoughts that have been stirring in my mind lately. Feel free to chime in on them.

Another reason we need a "Welcomes" section to this forum.
Welcome to the site. I appreciate that you are interested in learning more about your truck. Next time, start your own thread though, instead of hijacking mine please!
What all does it replace? Is it available for my rearend-NON BT, NON OR
The trutrac is a limited slip diff from Detroit and replaces the entire rear differential assembly. Only the stock ring/pinion and axles are retained. It is MUCH MUCH MUCH stronger than stock, and will fit any Titan rear. I know you don't have the OR package, but anyone who does will lose the e-locker with this. However, the limited slip on these is very tight, and performs great off road as well as on.
Would putting a TrueTrac (or equivelent) in the front diffs solve that problem similarly to the back or is that (spider gears) not what causes the front diff to fail?
I know the rear end is 32 splines and between 8.5" and 9", but what about the front spline count and physical size?
Also, a traditional D44 is 30 splines, though when Jeep rereleased the Wrangler this year, it upped them to 32 like the Titan.

The trutrac won't fit in the front, and there is currently nothing out there for the front.
