Tripmeter keeps resetting

Has anyone have this problem? After a fillup, I would reset it to track my mpg. But for a few months now, it would reset by itself. For example, when I get home and it's showing 175 miles...but in the morning when I start the truck, it would show 0. It's doing this about 2 times a day when I turn off the engine...and I usually turn it off about 5 times a day (going to work, dropping the kid off at daycare, lunch, and maybe an errand or two). All the other electrical stuff seems to work normally (preset radio stations and stuff are not lost). Thanks in advance guys.

Re: Tripmeter keeps resetting

Never heard of anyone posting of the same problem. Maybe you need a new odometer. If you're still under warranty, take it in.

Re: Tripmeter keeps resetting

Did you ever find out what was causeing this? I have owned my 06 CC LE for a couple of weeks now and it does the exact same thing. My odometer will reset over night. Frequent trips through the day it will keep track of all my milage.

Re: Tripmeter keeps resetting

HVTitan, did you ever get this problem fixed? The other day my truck would not start, cranked 5 times and nothing. Battery is still good, power was still going to everything it just would not turn over. Looked under the hood everthing looked good, went back to try one more time, after a little hesitation it finally started. Only thing now is the tripmeter keeps resetting. Any advice? I dont really want to take it in if I dont have to. Thanks

Re: Tripmeter keeps resetting

I've been having a problem with a short in my electrical system. I think I found it tonight, but long story short - when my battery was too weak to turn the engine over, the tripmeter would reset. My radio presets stayed, but I lost my tripmeter (strange too the short is in the radio).

Anyway - weak battery/bad connection will cause this type of behavior.

Re: Tripmeter keeps resetting

Is it resetting automatically after you pump gas?? If so, your odometer has artificial intelligence!

Re: Tripmeter keeps resetting

Thanks, I will check the battery. I wish it had A.I. and reset the odometer while it was at it.
