I have a 04 titan se with 4x4. I was out in jackson hole this winter working and my 4wheel went out. I was stuck there bc no nissan dealer in jackson. After the snow melted I moved to Ga and took it in to get fixed Town center nissan said the front diff had to be replaced and IT WAS NOT UNDER WARENTY! I have 45k miles on this thing and because I put a pro comp bushing lift only 2in they said they would not fix it. well after a call to the ftc and many others I convinced the kind people at town center that it would be in there best intrests to fix it rather than going to court with me. anyone have problem with front diff falure or is it just me.

Hi, Nice first post!!
Drivetrain Warranty is 5 year or 60,000 miles. They will love to see you in court!! Hire yourself a good attorney(about $300 per/hr) and sue their asses!!
Good luck!!

I just had mine replaced a couple of weeks ago. They were on a national backorder so I had to wait 5 days for it to get to the dealer. I'm guessing any front differential put in recently would be "new".

National backorder - wow, what kind of message does that send!
You can look at it two ways, one, not that many are needed so not that many are available... or two, there is an issue and there are a lot needed to replace a lot of problems. Based on the small amount of posts on the issue, I'd go with the first. Keep in mind there are not that many Titan owners on the forums.

did not run into that problem. I brought it in thurday they told me I needed a new one. on friday they orderd the part and it was out of service on tuesday. I jumped into it yesterday when the service guy pulled it around. I took off and noticed it was in 4hi but the selecter was in 2wd. I drove about 2 miles puting in 4hi then back to 2wd even stoped put in park and shifted it again. went to the gas station filled it up put in reverse backed up 10 feet put it in drive still no luck. so I headed back to the dealer. I pulled in, shut it off and go tell them what had happened. he goes starts up the truck and it has changed to 2wd. I looked like a dumb a$$. his advice was to try it out acouple more times. he also told me that u have to drive in reverse to get it out of 4wd. does any of this sound like accurate info. I dont think u should have to stop and put it in reverse to get it out of 4wd.
You don't have to put it in reverse to get it out, it just takes a the truck time to switch from 4 back to 2. Usually, once the drive shafts stop spinning, or slow enough, it'll disengage.

well u would think just giving it time would do the trick. I left work in norcross and got on 285 lots of trafic. I put it in 4wd and it went in fine. 2 min later I put it in 2wd I drove all the way to kennesaw and it never came out untill I got off the exit and went around a couple of turns. I think something is screwed up in the transfer case or the computer.

well to start with i dont think it is your best interest to put it into 4hi on dry pavement. I bet its just not seeing the difference in speeds between the front and back to shift out. I know that if I went in my truck now and got on the highway and didnt get off for 60 miles, it would probably not come out. Its normal, there has to be a difference of speed or a break. For example if I was driving along and had it in 4hi and wanted to switch I would simply let off very quickly on the gas, and 9 times out of 10 it will disengage.
