I was going to put on my spacer kit but could not even get my front passenger wheel off. First off I noticed a lug nut missing and I thought no big deal. I loosened the other lug nuts before a I jacked up the wheel and they where very stubborn once I got them loosened. Jacked up the wheel and only got three nuts off w/ little shavings in them. I had my buddy press the brake and I attempted the fourth nut cause it was really hard and it snapped the stud right off. And the fifth was the same so I didn't want 2 studs missing and it would not tighten all the way. So write now I only have 3 lug nuts holding the wheel on.
I got my oil changed on 3/30. I just got off the phone the service guy and he said there was no record of the tire being taken off. I was not notified a lug nut was missing. But they did notify me of tire condition and alignment. The service guy had no record of the tires being rotated and said I should talk to the previous person that did that about the lug nut missing. And he will charge me $110 for a new stud and lug nut and $4.95 for the other missing lug nut.
Is this the correct way the service guy assessed this situation or is he passing blame because there was no service on the lug nut? Do I have any other options?

Only oil changes, but not every oil change. I did have the tires rotated around 19k mi but have 26k on them now.
Did they do the rotation??

No but I would have noticed a lug nut missing for 7k mi.
okie... i will ask the obvious question: did you rotate your own tires? if not, who did? it is obvious that whomever did the work f'd up the simple job.

No I did not. And no they did not f up because I would have noticed a lug nut missing for 7k miles.

If the lug nut wasn't tighten properly, it could have slowly worked it's way loose and just recently fallen off. I would go back to whom ever did the work, and file a complaint!
