I will start out by saying; this IS the best driving truck I have owned. I have enjoyed the time I have had with it. I have always been a Toyota truck person but hated the last version of the Tundra so the Titan was a good fill in. Unfortunately, if you take all of the problems listed in these forums that people have had, I can honestly say that I have experienced about 90% of them. Mine is a 2004 LE KC. I have actually learned to deal with the issues over the years because I truly enjoy driving the truck. What I can’t deal with is the Nissan dealerships. I have 3 major ones in my area and they all have terrible service departments. I just continued to use the dealership that I purchased the truck at. The last 3 times I have gone in there, I was there for warranty work or recalls (mostly harnesses). I have asked to have additional work done like having the diff fluid changed and some other things. Each time I go back to pick up the truck, the actual price is twice what they quoted in the morning. I am fed up. I went through this last night at Smithtown Nissan in NY and it was my last. The next dealership that my Titan sees will be the Toyota dealer when I trade it in. I realize that I purchased a first year model of the Titan but I have done this several times with Toyotas and have never run into as many problems as I have with this Titan. I owned the first year Toyota T100, a first year newly designed 03 4Runner, several other Toyota trucks that were new models and most recently a new 07 redesigned Camry for my wife. When I was driving Toyotas, I rarely had to return to my dealership for anything. I just can’t take this anymore. Now that my truck has 40,000 miles on it, I know that much larger troubles are ahead. I am guessing that the groaning noise that I am hearing is coming from my rear diff and I am just not willing to wait for it to go. It’s time to move back to Toyota for now. I really do like the new Tundra. The shame of it is that I was always hoping that Nissan would release a longer bed version of the Crew cab and after seeing the pictures of it, it looks amazing (with the exception of the gay looking wood interior). I am not looking to start a Titan v Tundra thread here. I simply cannot and will not deal with another Nissan product or the dealerships that I am forced to get service from. I have friends and family that also own Titans and they all agree that it is the BEST and the WORST truck they have owned. The design of the truck is great but I simply do not have the time or the energy to have it at the dealer as often as I have. I can say this much: as the years have gone by, it’s clear that Nissan has worked out a lot of issues with each new model year. This alone might have pushed me into just replacing my 04 with a newer model or waiting for the 08 with the longer bed. What has pushed me over the edge is Smithtown Nissan. The service department is chock full of retards and liars. Every single time I go in there, it’s a fight waiting to happen. This is the one thing I can honestly say that Toyota has over Nissan. If ever I did have an issue with a Toyota, it’s taken care of quickly and with the respect I think we all deserve. I will always keep an eye on these forums as the information I have gathered here has been priceless. I really wish I had a good dealership in my area. Thanks for all the great info.
Hey I agree with you bro. the dealerships in general are always trouble, but hey at least you enjoyed the truck and now you moving on to what you see as a better truck. Enjoy it and keep us posted on how you like to new Tundra..
I just hope for your sake that the people from that crappy nissan dealer don't end up working at the toyota dealership you will be buying your new tundra from... It happens
It is really a shame that the dealerships are such stick in the muds and it really is hard to find a good one these days no matter what brand vehicle you buy.

I feel your pain brother, only my nightmare stealership is Golden isles Nissan of Brunswick. I didnt buy my truck there (thank God) but working out of town forced me to use them. I dropped my truck off for the day and it ended up being 3 days after all was said and not done. I wanted the 90,000 mile service performed as outlined in my service manual plus an alignment.
They had to do the seatbelt recall, i can understand the additional time for that but, man why so long on an alignment. I did alignments in high school over 10 years ago in about 45 min. They allow for 1 1/2 hrs what gives.
They aligned it but did not adjust the camber, the tires started wearing on the inside edge! had to go back! The transmission was flushed but they didnt tighten the drain plug, notice it leaking right there in the dealership parking lot! They didnt rotate the tires because they couldnt find my security lug adapter. (shouldn't they have a copy of all of them?) They didnt do half of the suggested items in the manual which I expected. I even left the service manual open and sitting on my center console as a guide. thats crappy service!
There is one other thing I wanted to mention regarding the Tundra. I was hoping to get a crewmax limited edition. I tend to enjoy the creature comforts that come along with the package. But regarding price, They are WAYYY out of line. Nissan clearly has the edge in this catagory. I would be real curious on how Nissan is going to price the 08 models with the longer bed. If Toyota cant seem to find a way to lower the price by 8 or 9% off msrp, I may not even go that route. I am not a cheap person, I just feel that the prices they are asking are too much. Lets face it, its just a pickup truck.
hey tileteam did you ever go to amity nissan have been going there myself for four years best service department there is very straight forward dont try to rape you. Always helped me whatever probs i had with my truck. And I might add very good sales department too.
NYTITAN, I have been there when shopping around but could never have my service done there. I live far east of there and would be a nightmare too travel to that dealership everythime i needed something. And as you well know, the traffic part of it alone would be a 2.25 hour trip in rush hour. I have also heard good things about the service department there. Thanks for the suggestion.
Sorry to hear you leaving the Titan, but you have to do what you think is best.
I think you put it into perspective well when you said that its only a pickup. Very true.
Regards,
John
