The wheels make a clicking noise that all most sounds like a playing card on a bicycle wheel X4. I took it in to the dealership, and they had only one other case on an Armada with the same problem. It took them many times around the block and parking lot and a whole day to figure out what that noise was. I was told that this problem is not at this time fixable!
The new trucks have a hubcap that is not removable. My Monroney sticker said I had an upgrade of Chrome Wheels 18' 6 spoke design. But that is not what came on the truck. It is a plastic chrome colored inset (hubcap). I opened a consumer affair file with 1-800-Nissan-1... that was a JOKE !! they said (with attitude) IF and WHEN they get a fix for the clicking noise they will contact us. This is not acceptable. I told them since there is not a fix, to honor the Monroney Sticker and put the chrome wheels on, you would have thought that I had asked for something that I have not already paid for. I was not worried about the Chrome wheels... I just have a problem with the clicking noise. It is really bad from 0-30 not noticeable in higher speeds.
The ... specialist... said that what I got on the truck was on the Monroney sticker, and the Monroney stick shows everything that is on the truck, She does not believe that a mistake like this could be made.
The dealership's GSM said that the Monroney sticker and the Wheels on the truck do NOT match. Not quite sure if I need an lawyer, since this "specialist" is suppose to be a mediator and has an attitude that is "well.. it's your problem"
-I have not even made the first payment yet, and the Nissan attitude is not very warm and fuzzy...
Right now a VW bug is sounding a whole lot better.
Nissan called me said there is now a fix for the problem.... but.... !!!
It is not available just yet, she called my dealership service department to tell them, the service department said they would just swap out the wheels with alloy wheels and then when the fix comes in they would replace them again...
When I drove up he told the shop hand that I was the one with the noisy chrome clad wheel, I said what?? he said a "noisy chrome clad wheel..." I said oh no.. no.. I have Chrome wheels, my Monroney sticker says so, and according to the "specialist" they don't make mistakes like that. He quickly rushed me off to his office, and then to the floor managers office.
I fussed at the manager and told him that if I had gone to the dentist and paid for a gold crown and then when they put it in it was a gold colored plastic, there would be a lawsuit made (especially if it clicked) I explained that was just about what I was feeling.
After a few hours and many phone calls, he began to look to find where the mistake was, we walked the lot, looked at all the Monroney stickers verses what was on the trucks... low and behold there was a mistake.... the factory made a mistake !!! ALL the Chrome package and the Texas package wheels that were on the trucks were incorrect. The Texas Package had all the Chrome wheels the Monroney sticker said they where Chrome Clad wheels, the Chrome Package (which is what I have) had the chrome clad but Monroney sticker said they were up graded to Chrome wheels....
Ding - Ding .!.!.!.
So they swapped the wheels from a new truck put them on mine, new tires and all, I was on my way within an hour with the Chrome Wheels that I was suppose to have in the first place. And to you Miss know it all Nissan "specialist" :-P you were wrong... Nissan did pay for my chrome wheels (that I had already paid for), there was a mistake made by Nissan.
So for all of you who have the chrome clad wheels... I feel for you !!! They are working on the fix... but it is just not ready yet. Go ahead and create a Consumer Affair File at 1-800-Nissan-1, once they make a file number for you, you will be in the system If and When they do get it right they will let you know.
Save your Monroney stickers, they are a legal document.
Well, very interesting reading... I picked up my new 07 Titan 4x4 "Texas" edition just last week, and as you could guess, same problem! I'll be sure to post my experience later this week after my trip to the dealer...
Supposedly they are going to have a TSB on this. The "Fix" is using "better" glue. Why Nissan went this route I have no idea. I'm just glad my chrome wheels are real and not covers.
One member got so sick of it he just call Nissan and ask them to swap out his fake chrome wheels to some regular SE wheels.
Also for 07, it doesn't matter if you get Chrome Package or TX Titan, they all come with the chrome clad wheels.

Well, first visit to the service department this AM when something like this…
Service advisor says "Yep, sounds like the wheels but Nissan doesn’t have a recall on them, so I'll talk to the manager Monday morning and I'll call you and let you know how we'll proceed."
I then placed a call to Nissan Consumer affairs, to get only "Sorry, no recalls and no other complaints regarding the chrome-clad wheels. Please call us back if you feel your dealer doesn’t resolve your issue.”
If anyone has a file number through Nissan affairs and wouldn’t mind passing it on, I'd like to make sure Nissan KNOWS that several people besides myself is hearing the crackling of the plastic as they drive.
Although I don't expect to win the battle since the mfg sticker says chrome-clad, I find it very close to false advertising considering the following as advertised by Nissan:
(F01) Texas Titan Package
Includes 18" x 8.0" 6-spoke chrome wheels, chrome step rails, fog lamps, spray-on bedliner, Texas Titan front and rear floor mats, Texas Titan tailgate badge and Texas Titan hydrographic center console and instrument panel treatment.
After my Titan spent the entire day at the Bankston Nissan service department here in Dallas, here’s the resolution to fixing the click/crackling noise from what I belived was the chrome-clad wheels. I’ll admit, no more clicking! BUT… I’m very skeptical that this isn’t the last time I’ll have the issue. Nissan consumer affairs, the service manger, and service advisor “assured” me that there are no such re-calls or TSBs on the chrome-clad wheels. Guess it’s all in my head…
Oh yeah, ready for the fix??
(Notes directly from the service invoice.)
TIRE PRESSURE TOO HIGH WARR ADJUST TIRE PRESSURE AND APPLY SILCON SPRAY TO TIRE BEADS

I’d be happy to hear what others think of this…
Cheers,

It is not in your head, but they are correct in saying that there are no recalls or TSB's on this. But that does not mean they don't have a problem, they just haven't found a way to address this yet.
I would be weary of the silicone spray to the tire beads, that will go away with one good car wash.
At this point the dealer doesn't have a clue what to do with these and Nissan has not provided much guidance.Stay tuned it has to get better.
They are probably reaming the manufacturer of these wheels a new one as we speak, once a solution is provided I'm sure you will be taken care of.
I had the same prob with my 07 texas titan here in san antonio. But thankfully they replaced my wheels. however when i get my tires rotated they expect i will have to get the rear wheels serviced as well. i was mortified nissan stooped to "hub caps" on a 33k truck. Then have the nerve to charge 750.00 for it (if it wasnt a warranty repair) which it was of course.

Its my truck that BBF is talking about.. And I was the one that got the low down from nissan reguading the "better" glue to secure the caps...I went through 2 sets and my truck has 2500 miles on it... So the fix you got today will prob last about 300-500 miles, thats how long mine lasted each time.... good luck to everyone with this problem... I got tired of it and ordered some charcoal SE wheels to replace the chrome with Nissan USA footing the bill
I took my Titan by a dealer yesterday here in VA, and they told me that Nissan had sent out a bulletin, but with no specific details. They verified the cracking noise and said that Nissan had a replacement wheel out to fix the problem. No pictures or details though. They ordered the new wheels, so it should be interesting to see what they look like. I'll keep you posted as soon as I see them.
Dropped my truck off this morning and looked at the new wheel. It's the same wheel, just new. I didn't get hateful, just told them that as soon as I hear the clicking noise, I'll be back.
