...even though I don't have the button pushed and there is no "on" indicator light. I really don't use the A/C that much but this past weekend, I noticed that the air blowing from the vents was extremely cold...colder than it was outside. Can anyone offer an explanation?

If you have the selector in the the defrost mode, the air compressor will cycle and the light will be on.

If you have the selector in the the defrost mode, the air compressor will cycle and the light will be on.
And the compressor will contiue to cycle, even if the 'on' light is off, until you select a completely non-defrost mode AND THEN turn the fan off.
You found my pet peeve.
Still waiting for someone to figure out how to wire it so the compressor stays off unless the button is pushed, and the light stays on until the compressor is off.
Mine was doin this as well before I took it to the dealer to get the bed redone and well they said this was a bad hose or some crap... I was hearing a crackling noice as well at times and it would turn off and on by itself... I dont think theyre gonna fix the problem but according to them its a hose...

Nuke, thought you were working on it. You always have great ideas - you could sell the solution.

if everything is kept normal, Cold all way to the left, selector is at face and set at no air I still feel colder air than what is outside blowing in. I did at times kinda smell the A/C air ( yes it is different ).
Nothing was moved, started the truck and this was going on. So to me it is still a mystery

The truck was off with things as you say, then it was started and the AC was on? Zoinks! That is definitely a Mystery Machine.
After reading this thread I spoke to my Nissan service dept. The Mgr. said that sometimes the Titan A/C will stay on when you turn the switch off...even when it is not in the defrost mode. It is not something they know how to fix. It is a fairly rare and random ocurrance. His advice is to pull over, turn off the engine and restart. This will turn the A/C. He also said that it has been reported to be a bigger issue in the Frontier trucks. Take this for what it's worth.
I have experienced this maybe 3 or 4 times in the past 18 mos. I still have half the warranty left in case someone finds out differently.

It was fixed in 06 and is an issue on all titans prior to this. ALL titans. In fact I believe it was an issue on the MAJORITY of nissan vehicle. The solution is to sell the truck and buy a new one or live with it.
I trie not to use the AC or defroster, unless I have to otherwise it lowers you gas mileage even after you turn it off.

Mine does this as well, I hear clicking from right and left hand sides even with the air off. And yea I feel cold air too sometimes even with everything off. If you guys nail this before I head home I will still be under warranty! 80 miles left!

I believe it. It is definitely a problem with my '4 XE. I was driving this weekend with the Fan Off, the Selector on Face, windows down. I felt a cool breeze on my knee and put my hand over the face vents and there was icy, chilled air coming out. Gosh!
aww man no fixes? I'm out of warranty now. Looks like we are expected to pull over on the side of the freeway in rush hour traffic in LA, turn the car off and back on then lay some rubber and get back on the freeway, then repeat every time we want to use the AC.
Funny hting is they would probably have to come up with a fix but 99% of owners don't know about the problem...
