TBS was my first thought also. Where is the whistle coming from?

Re: my truck whistles

If your all stock and dont have a TBS. Then check the screen (the one thats attached to the O ring gasket for your TB.)If the edges are rough and it doesn't look like the screen was punched out cleanly, then that might be where your whistling is coming from.Thats where it was coming from on my truck. Mine used to whistle around 1500rpm to 2000rpm under light throttle. At half throttle or more there was no whistle. I cut that screen out and the whistle is completely gone. Hope this helps.

I've heard about cutting the screen out as a performance mod... anybody else heard of any performance benefits on cutting out the screen?

Re: my truck whistles

Truck has at least 3 brains, it ought to know the words!

TBS is Throttle Body Spacer. An Aluminum block, 1" thick, placed between the TB and the Intake Tube It usually has a large thread in the middle, causing a swirling action of the airflow. Mostly at mid range, it increase HP and TQ by about 10. Heliix and AirAid PowerAid are the most popular for the Titan.

Hooray for Altoona, my Dad was from Tyrone. My wife and kids and I went to Altoona a couple years ago for the big Fourth of July Celebration at Horseshoe curve. I think it was the 100th or 150th Anniversary of HS Curve.

The general consensus is yes. The theory is that the TBS creates a swirling/helix affect on the air, and the screen just breaks the flow back up. That just cancels out the benefit of the TBS...

Re: my truck whistles

It is very possible that you do not have your air filter box seated correctly. You might be pinching part of the filter or something like that. Try rotating your filter as it probably has a black line on the bottom of it by now. Keep the pleats in the same orientation to the engine. If that doesn't solve it, experiment with a seal around the filter box seam, like electrical tape for example, which can be removed later. If the sound goes away, you know the source is the air filter box.
