PatrickL. Dont get me wrong. I love this truck and its a blast to drive. These problems however are clouding the big picture. Go to the dealer. Have an honest talk to them. Choose the truck you want and before signing ANYTHING take the truck for a long testdrive; then take it home for the weekend, then take it back. Think about it an go test drive all the other trucks out there. Go back to the dealer take it for another tetdrive. Go fast, go slow, uphill-downill, offroad, on the highway- cruise on-off; CHECK everything on the truck you can. If the dealer doesnt go for it find another one or drop the Toyota or Dodge/Ford/ bomb and tell them to stick it....
Its not all the trucks apparently that are having this problem. I new what I wanted and had it shipped to me by my dealer. Took the leap of faith and trusted it would be fine before driving it on the highway... So, I am the dumbarse that should have known better... You will know right away about the vibration/wobble. And dont buy the bull about out of round tires. Just test drive one till its perfect for you.... Goodluck! And by the way, I got the best price dealing with the internet guy. Our problem WILL be resolved cause the lemon laws gaurantee it... Its just the hoops we gota jump through dealing with the games they play.
TNPro4x, I agree with you totally. The problem is I am concerned for reasons similar to your situation. I can save a bundle buying from a Seattle dealer even though I am in Reno. Problem is that I have to take leap of faith. I have already tried to get my local dealer to come down, nope. They can't come within $1k of the seattle deal even when considering travel.
I do trust the guy up there, Chuck Capps at Advantage Nissan. He's been great to deal with so I would bet I could tell him the situation and make sure he tested the truck out before I came up. I just hope if I ended up with problems later that nissan would take care of it. The plan is to move to Anchorage within a few months of buying this truck (hence the reasaon for a bigger truck to tow up to Anchorage with) so I wouldn't be able to deal with any local dealers.
Also, I am thinking about a Toyota and Ram but Toyota is way too expensive and the Ram....well its a ram and the Titan rocks. What a great lookin truck.
DONT BUY IT TILL YOU TEST DRIVE IT.... I MEAN A LONG TEST DRIVE.... IF YA CANT DO THAT-PAY THE EXTRA MONEY FOR A TRUCK THAT YOU CAN!!! OTHERWISE CONSIDER OTHER OPTIONS... You dont want these headaches to deal with, especially if your moving soon...
WoW< Exactly what I got> Yours isnt a Pro-4x is it? If not then the Rancho's arent to blame. Gotta be something in the driveshaft/rearend or tranny itself. Could be something as obvious as the driveshaft down to a screwed up bearing seat? Who knows. Too bad that phone ya put on there didnt vibrate off. It would of been a nice touch if it did. Looks like a minute before and it would of went flying of the bedrail...lol
Only Nissan's "Brain Trust Division" The "Calculator Boys" Could figure this one out. I just wished my truck was one that wasnt doin it...
Great video by the way... It reminds me of a common fix the plane mechanics write up in the logbooks after the pilots write something up thats bad... CND... could not duplicate... a mechanics way of saying- I have no F'n idea and its above my paygrade...lol
dealer just called and said they just ordered a front and rear drive shafts and also a new rear end... the rep wants a fallow up from my service adviser when eveything gets put on...... please don't reply to this until later this evening so everybody can see that I was the last one to reply.. thanks

wow the rep is so nice he just called me and told me what they did yesterday after i left.. First they took of the front drive shaft and drove (no change) SECOND they put different tires/rims on it (no change) THIRD try the put the old tires and rims on then put the other set of tires in the bed all they way back towards the tailgate (no change) FOURTH they put the shim kit back in (no change). He did say that one of the front U joints was bad so thats why they also ordered the front and rear shaft plus the rear axle.. He also got on the tech line and they said what i was hearing from you guys so thats why he is replacing the stuff i told him to try.. Also he said that the wielded blocks on the axle might be off just enough to make everthing off...And he told the tech to drive the truck before they put this stuff on so he knew how it felt and the stuff might be in tomorrow....

here is my video wwwdotyoutubedotcom/watch?v=0rZubCutjSA
change the word dot to a . (period)
Holy crap! Are all you guys with this problem...vibrating as bad as Reys in that video? Jessuuus! I'd drive it thru the showroom window! I get in my truck lately and I'm trying different speeds, and listening...trying to feel something. Then I see this video and realize....I can't possibly miss that! And his isn't a PRO-4X. Lets see what happens tomorrow. Hopefully the driveshaft will do it.....again, that's my guess. If not, I'd send them to the wheel bearings next. The saga continues!

I hope this works for you. IF it does, could you scan any related docs from the dealership (minus your personal info) and post them here so the rest of us can bring copies into our dealerships. Also - see if you can get that Nissan rep's contact info so the rest of us can bother him.

Yeah< Get the reps contact info and whatever else you can. My dealer mngr said its been this way since day one-Back whenever the Titan was designed... All of them have it and thats-thats. lol... I will just wait to see what happens with adkl's and take it from there... what a joke.... I will bet what they do to adkl1's doesnt fix it completely- hopefully it does; but I wont be surprised if it doesnt...
im keeping my fingures crossed.. This rep really seems like he wants to fined out what the problem is... well if some of the trucks are doing it and some aren't then its just not a titan thing and there is a problem...

Mine is an 2006, no Ranchos, but I wanted to try some to see if I could solve the issue myself. I never tried it, and its a good thing, since the dealer finally swapped front and rear out for me. I have a couple of more video's I could post, but the bed hopping is the money shot so to speak. The question I have for Adl1k is if they swap the rear drive shaft and its doesnt fix it, how do they know the shaft is balanced or not. Nor_cal_titan had to have the drive shaft balanced before they solved the issue. Then I also read one guys post that said he didnt have the problem, and they swapped his differential for a different reason, and the problem showed up. He never did say what the fix was for his truck. I need to do more postinging so that I can paste links here to kinda consolidate the threads where they will be easier to find. Maybe I can get a main topic added to the root? Call it "is your truck bouncing/hopping.vibrating/wobbling?"
We're all keeping our fingers crossed for you. Like reybeast said, will they know that the new driveshafts will be "good"? Ideally, they should be pulling test parts from a similar truck that does not exhibit the death wobble. Of course, they won't want to do this but it would certainly take a lot of the guesswork out.
