Is your passenger seat power or manual?

Re: 08 with death wobble & vib

My 08 Pro4x Leather, power, bench does not shake.

I will say it has some vibration that may be lateral like a shake but it is VERY hard to notice but can be felt when you stick you hand between the seat and center console.

Might be all the power equipment and the bench design giving it the extra structural integrity.

I test-drove a truck similar to mine this morning which had a bench and the passenger seat also vibrated in the exact same manner as mine, just not quite as intensely. I believe, as you have noted, that that is due to the bench actually providing some lateral support. But the seat did vibrate.

Re: 08 with death wobble & vib

Bleasdell, the vibration on the passenger seat might even be considered normal by some people due to the fact that we are driving trucks with hard rear suspensions. It might even has a few loose bolts on the back of the seat or not enough lateral support in the back. It is though, very annoying.

Now, imagine that your passenger seat is fine, nothing vibrating, and all of the sudden the truck starts shaking like if it just drove over 50 to 100 feet of roadway with 2x4' nailed to the pavement. That seems to be happening to several truck owners when the truck needs power to start climbing a hill at 40mph and low rpm (@1000).

In my case the dealer most likely will replace the tq converter and the transmission for a new one. I mean, when engineers from the plant in Smyrna, TN came down to GA to test drive my truck, " it ain't good".

I think this is the kind of "vibration" adkl1 was referring to.

Re: 08 with death wobble & vib

Cool< Congrats... It seems that the culprit was actually the driveshaft then??? But please photocopy your fax and post it as a download so we can all take it to the dealer and say "Do this now..."
Thanks in advance...

Talking Re: 08 with death wobble & vib

Yes, that is AWESOME news!

Sorry, everyone, for distracting/derailing this thread down a track it was not intended for. I guess one man's vibration is not necessarily another's (whoa, that doesn't sound too good).

Anyway, I am shocked to find out that the vibration problem you guys are experiencing is so bad. I do mean shocked. Nissan's are great vehicles, period. This type of issue is completely unacceptable.

I am glad you got yours fixed (and I hope everyone else does too) but I also hope you all call Nissan Consumer Affairs and lodge a serious complaint. Someone should call first, and get a case opened and post that case number here and have others call and lodge their complaints referencing the same case number. If enough are heard I think Nissan will respond.

It is the seat itself. If I am sitting in the seat (I am just over 200 lbs.) the seat does not vibrate, or at least not to a point where I notice it. However, when no one is in the seat you can visibly see the vibration in the seat.

It became clear to me that the vibration is solely limited to the passenger seat itself.

it is pretty clear to me that the seat vibrates side to side because it has no significant cross-bracing...
mine does the EXACT same thing, other trucks I drove at the dealership did the same (2008 models), however, my old 2004 titan did not vibrate.
my dealer says it b/c the new capitan seat design is light (lightweight), 08 SE KC 4x4

Re: 08 with death wobble & vib

Mygunstoo,

The kind of vibrating/shaking you are describing, under load, my first instinct would be the motor/tranny.

As I explained earlier, I have had cars with bad torque converters that shook like that. Also, has anyone ever driven an old carbureted big V8 when it has a dead or misfiring cylinder?? Man under the load they can shake you in a concussion No with all the new computer controls on these cars you would think the computer could catch some these internal problems unless the electronics have a hand in causing them.

I worked for a Chrysler dealership in the late 80's and I remember a New Yorker that we called the electronic trap. The thing that makes me remember this car, and the only reason I know it so many electrical problem was I was on of the "BIG" guys they had piled into the trunk to try and get the air shocks to reset. Apparently the computer load level system kept thinking the rear end was waited and needed ALL the air it could give it

During the reset drive the car bucked pretty good and I asked the service guy what was wrong with the car. He explained something about a couple of sensors in the in the "NEW" electronic 4 spd auto tranny were fighting each others. Never really cared much about it as I was not to excited about computer controlled cars at the time. I still prefer computer cars

So

Bad rotors in front - front end shake

Bad rotors in rear - entire truck shake

Boy I hope it was more than just the rotors causing it
