For the ove of all that is Holy!: Exhaust manifold
Just got off the phone with a regional rep and am shaking bad enough that typing is hard.
Have an exhaust leak that I think is a cracked manifold. Read all the reports here.
Went to my dealership of Team Nissan in Marietta, GA.
They immediately said nothing was covered because I'm 3,000 miles out of powertrain (63,000 miles).
I told them about the 8 yr, 80,000 mile emmissions warranty. They took my VIN and looked up the warranty book and said "cat and computer only". I told them what I had learned here that since they are one piece they should be covered and attempted to give them the work codes from one of the posts. They wouldn't look.
I left and called 1800Nissan1. Lady took my information and said she needed to call their tech line. She called back the next day and said that it WAS covered and could send me a fax saying such. I never got the fax (in her defense my buisness line and fax line are the same so it may of been busy).
While trying to call her back and get the fax resent I'm contacted by Melissa a "reginal rep". She gives me the stock "please take it to the dealership" line and I keep telling her I refuse until I'm assured that a cracked manifold will be covered. She says "please hold" and looks up my warranty book and says "it's not covered".
I attempt to explain to her about what had happened before and about the fax and this discussion here and past issues and get no where. When I ask to speak to her supervisor she becomes very defensive and keeps saying "I'm sorry you feel I'm being disrespectful." I tell her I felt she was VERY respectfull but just doesnt seem to be listening to my issues or that she's contradicting the previous lady.
So now I'm stuck taking it to a dealer that already says that it's NOT covered and Nissan not listening to me anymore.
Whatta I do?

You need to get that fax in hand! Keep calling 800 number and ask for that lady by name who would send the fax.

Believe it or not but the extension I have for her is only 4 digits long (5163). Which doesn't work with the 1800Nissan1 switchboard. I tried calling the regional number and entering that extension (sine the new lady's extension is only 4 digits (1478)) and it won't work.
Does anyone know these people?
Anyone who's had theirs replaced know their case / file number so I can give it to them.
I cannot understand how taking it to a delaer that has already told me that its not covered under warranty is going to help me. Plus I'm sure my VIN is flagged or something now with the information from the second chick whom would not answer if the manifold and cat were one piece "that's a tech question and I'm not a tech" ("Then will you please call the tech line like the other lady did?" "no.")
I hate dealing with crap like this because my flaw is that I get upset. That's why I attempt to only work with people who know me and / or I try to have all my ducks in a row. If they won't even look then what the hell am I supposed to do?
Seriosuly and not saying this just for effect: I was considering trading in my 04 on a newer model because I count on it so much for my buisness.

Yeah, come on over. Everything is free, with free install also.
But seriously, if they don't warranty it you might want to see if anyone who has put headers on their truck has the stock manifolds to part with.

That's awesomly more helpful and a really good idea!
The reason for my orginal request for help is because I don't have the cash to do this repair and certainly not enough to upgrade.

Did you ever try another dealer?

Re: For the ove of all that is Holy!: Exhaust manifold
OK first of all,Nissan Consumer Affairs is now being sub-contracted out of Canada as of last month. There are a lot of new people there and a lot of confusion regarding the coverage of these manifolds.Below is an old quote I have posted in the past that seemed to help other TT members really well
"Tell them the effective Labor Operations for these are AT46AA/AT47AA PNC key is "20801"
The following quote is from their coverage manual and your warranty book provided when you bought your truck
"88 Emission Control - 8 years/80,000 miles for all states for 1995-2008 model year vehiclesNote: For PNC's “20800 - Catalytic Converter”, “22611 - EFI Control Unit”, “20010 - Front Exhaust Tube” and some “14004 - Exhaust Manifold”. With catalytic converters permanently attached. "
With catalytic converters permanently attached.
You need to call back,EVERYTHING you have discussed (with the "defensive line")will be on record in your file, they know who said or sent you whatever. If this is not working, ask for a supervisor, that will probably get you back to Canton with one of the original people(aka the "Linebackers") probably a lot more knowledgeable, once you penetrate deep enough into their new "zone defense" you should be flying past the "strong safety" and into the end zone(your new manifolds)!
Your manifolds are absolutely without a doubt covered 8 yrs-80,000 miles.
Ask the C.A or your dealer for a meeting with their Dealer TEch Specialist or their Dealer Pts/Svc Mgr from Nissan if still needed, show them this coverage as well as your owners manual, ask them to call a supervisor at the claims call center for verification if still necessary
Re: For the ove of all that is Holy!: Exhaust manifold
Technically, the cat is working ok, but the manifold is not. I can understand why the dealer is taking their position, but one item cannot be replaced without replacing both the cat and manifold. Since the design is one piece, it should be covered under warranty and cosidered a cat replacement.

If they didn't want to cover both, the morons should never have welded them together to begin with. Hope you get it covered man, good luck.

Nissan warranty is like Clintons definition of "is". Their answer is to buy a new Titan and that will solve your problem, or at least theirs.

You should fight this to the end. It can be covered, I have had this covered on my 04 Armada. It took a bunch of phone calls and a few different dealers to finally find one that got it covered for me.
