my truck has 40,000 miles and the front dif is being replaced. about 10,000 miles ago they did the c-clip repair but now apparently something in the front dif is toast. i think they said it was a bearing. i am really worried about keeping this truck past the 60,000 mile drivetrain warranty. at this point both front and back differentials have been replaced. is an extended warranty worth considering? is that even available to me at this point? would the dealer offer something like this due to the many drivetrain problems?
i just read all the post's about the front driver axle popping out. I have the procomp. 6in. lift in my truck and I don't know if it's because of the lift kit or not, but mine pops out every few days. We replaced the clip thinking that the clip was just worn out, but it just popped out today and the new clip was installed thursday. I am starting to think that the axle comes out maybe when the wheel is turned the whole way, maybe and the axle is at it's shortest length, So My question is, is there maybe a company that makes a longer axle, or how do i fix this problem. It def. sucks when it pop's out driving on the highway in the middle of a snowstorm, Not fun!!! And Nissan wont cover any of it cause of the lift kit, and they suck. Bancroft Nissan in worcester ma. Not a good service manager!!!
I guess I should add my 2 cents here. Mine has popped out enough to leak fluid at least four times. Three trips to the dealership and no repair. One tech said that the cause was the broken stud on my PRG spacer. I asked him how that changed the distance between the hub and the side gear... he couldn't come up with an answer. Anyway, I have my front diff on my front porch right now and I'll be taking it in to them on Monday and camping out until it's fixed.

I put dr coilovers on my front, which gave me a 1-2" lift. One year went by then my front axle started leaking, Nissan refused to warrenty or even FIX for a fee!!! I had to take it to another shop have them look up the parts, go back to Nissan order the parts, wait a week pick them up and take them to another shop to be put in. My c clip popped out, which cause the front axle to pop out as well. I was so pissed at Nissan, I started reading all the problems others have with the Titan, I traded my Titan in. I did not want to get stuck with a money pit lemon. I learned much from this experience, if you decide to lift your Titan or put larger tires on your Titan, you WILL have problems with your front axle and you will not be covered under Nissan's warrenty. I wish I would have known this before I lifted my Titan. I do feel that the Titans suspension is sad at best, but I had no recourse because of the lift. Please don't believe in the Mag Moss law it is not intended for modifications only things like oil filters and so on. It is also easy to show how a lift and larger tires will change to stress on the front suspension.
If you are thinking of lifting your Titan, my only advice is DON'T!!!!

nice first post...
sorry that you had problems with your titan and end result traded it in...
Not every Titan out there is a bad seed, and not every dealer is bad either. Sounds like your dealer was full of pricks and you should have called Nissan.
I hope whatever vehicle you replaced it with is trouble free for you. But one bad dealer and a popped clip is not reason enough (for me at least) to feel that you are in for a world of maintenance nightmares.

I wonder at what height a lift becomes a problem. If I am not mistaken some Titans come from the factory levelled due to Rancho front shocks - right? I wouldn't think spacers would be high enough by themselves, but maybe in conjunction with larger tires it gets to be a problem. Just a thought.

I have the Rancho front struts stock with the OR package, but they do nothing to level out the front.
If there was a longer axle available or if you could shim the axle at the hub so it sticks in the tranny more (don't know if there's enough threads on axle to do this), that would help. Or if you could swap the front axles for ones with U-joints, that would also help. But I don't think the Titan has any of these options available?
I blew my front diff while in Alaska where my titan was in 4wd half the year it seemed...Dealer in anchorage fixed under warranty and said they have fixed about 30 titans over past year.
05 Rear and an 06 Front on my 04. Should be almost bullet proof now. Both covered but with only 37,000 very easy miles and no lift I am begining to wonder what's next???
