Exclamation A/C Recall

Was contacted by my dealer and told that there was a recall on the A/C for my 08 PRO-4X. I got the Nissan recall card in the mail the next day. The service manager told me the A/C control unit needs to be replaced. The card said that a part of the A/C system would freeze up sometimes and not allow the cold air to get to the cab. So I'm not 100% clear on the real issue just yet. Just letting you guys know that you may want to check with your dealer. Just have your VIN ready if you call them. I am not sure how many year models may be effected.

I just had mine replaced 2 weeks ago for the same problem. All they do is replace the control unit in the dash. This problem only happened once and never came back.

Re: A/C Recall

The recall only applies to 08 models, and it was a problem with compressor not shutting off and the evaporator coil freezing up.

Re: A/C Recall

Turns out it's only earlier 08 models. My 08 PRO-4X isn't part of the recall.

Re: A/C Recall

Had mine done over the christmas holiday. There waqs a TSB put out in Oct last year.

I had the problem on 3 differnet trips from VA to NY. The unit replaced is the controller behind the control knobs in the dash. Those truck with dual A/C control were not effected.

The problem is not seen by all effected people. You have to have the A/C one for a long time before the freeze up happens. For me it was about 4 - 4 1/2 hours of continous running. Then the air would stop blowing out of the vents but it would sounds like a huricanne was going on under the dash.

Won't be able toi verify the fix until the weather warms up and I make my next trip to PA or NY.

Never did recieve a notice from teh dealer though...

Unhappy Re: A/C Recall

This is funny because just recently on my 08 SE 4x4 (2 and half months old only), the front passenger side main carpet was soaked through with water. It's been raining recently here on Guam and rain has come in but in small amounts (i.e. left door open while loading and started to rain). I'm thinking the A/C water drain is backing in or a leak from the cab when it rains and driving. I have the clear floor mats, then the carpet mat, after that, it was all wet. I don't think that rain coming into the cab for a short period of time could have soaked past through the two mats?

Oh well, its going to the dealer for its 3 month check-up which is in about two weeks. Anyone had this same experience?

Joe

Re: A/C Recall

Joe Flores,

There is a TSB on that also.

2 of them. One about missing chalking and the other about the a/c drain.

Have your dealer look them up.

Yeah, it seems to be the LONG trips without a stop. If I stop even once and turn the car off for about 10min it does not happen.

Interesting that it was just a TSB in Oct 07 but now it is a recall.

Re: A/C Recall

Thanks, I was feeling all alone out here in the Pacific.

On another note, your PRO-4X is beautiful. The only reason why I have the SE is because of the 6 seats I needed to take my family around in. If it weren't for the needed space, the PRO-4X would have been my first choice. My favorite feature on yours is the cool interior it comes with.

Again, thanks for the info

Re: A/C Recall

Mine's got a Bench seat.

I thought I wanted the buckets until i sat in the bench. See to me bench always meant the long solid ugly looking thing in the front..

The Titan's bench is more like a buckets seats with a buddy seat.
