rattle/squeak in '07 Titan passenger seat

Hello all, first post here for me ...

So I bought a 2007 Titan about a week and a half ago with a bit less than
15k miles on it. Overall I'm very happy with the purchase, but there are a couple of rattles that are a bit annoying, although I'm the first to admit that I might be acting a bit anal.

The first thing I've noticed is that occasionally when going over small to moderate sized bumps, the front passenger seat will make sort of a weird squeaking sound. This tends to happen when nobody is sitting in that seat and it's free to move around or vibrate a bit. I can replicate the sound (again, only sometimes, which makes it tough to diagnose!) by pressing on the side of the seat. It's as if there's something that's a bit loose and not well lubricated somewhere in the seat that's causing the sound. Anyone else experience something like this? While it can be annoying I wouldn't spend huge amounts of effort and/or money as it's not a huge deal and doesn't affect the way the truck runs.

I've also noticed a minor rattle somewhere from the passenger side of the interior, but it's only audible when the truck is still pretty cold ... maybe its first 5 minutes running after sitting outside in 20 degree temps. I'm assuming this is just kind of due to the fact that everything seems a bit "brittle" when it's cold?

The only other very small thing is the rear left door (it's a crew cab I drive) ... the child safety lock won't disengage, regardless of whether the switch is in the locked or unlocked position. But, the dealer told me they'd fix it under warranty.

Anyway, thanks for any advice ... pretty minor issues in my opinion but I was just curious if there were any easy fixes ... overall I think the truck kicks ***!

There used to be a TSB for that issue, I had it performed on my 06 I had, check into it. It was an easy fix. I believe they added a cross support to sure up the seat, but anyway it fixed mine, in my 06.

The interior rattle might be one of your side mirrors. I thought it was only when my truck was cold but it was really I didn’t notice it except for when I first got in because I do a lot of stop and go’s before the highway and I don’t crank the stereo right away. When I’m at a light or stop sign I can hear my drivers side rear view mirror vibrating. Took me about two weeks to figure it out, because it sounds like its inside but once you roll down the window you can easily tell it’s the mirror.

Cool ... that's good to know that it might not be a terribly unusual problem. I'll definitely check into it.

Thanks,

Rich

The thing I noticed about this other rattle is it's definitely only while the truck is still cold. I listened to it a couple of hours ago with the radio off the whole time, and it pretty much went away after about 5-10 minutes. It's a higher pitched rattle or maybe even a very slow vibration (tough to describe), that sounds like it's coming from the area of the glove box, or maybe even the vents where the heat/AC comes out. Turning the fan on or off makes no difference. The frustrating thing is I can't replicate it, unlike the sound in the passenger seat.

I tried rolling down the window and it doesn't seem to be a mirror.

Thanks though for the advice, and hopefully the next time I get it over to the dealer it'll be cold enough for them to hear it!

Re: rattle/squeak in '07 Titan passenger seat

I don't know one Titan that doesn't have squeeks and rattles. My 04 sounded like it was going to come apart. My 05 still has the passenger seat issue and I have had the bulletin done as well as replaced the seat under warrenty 3 times. My 07 the drivers seat squeeks and sounds like its comming from the floor, the passenger seat shakes, my rear doors make rattle noises, my front end clunks over bumps, but I didn't buy the Titan for luxury. I expected noises and it seems to be common. I just turn the radio up. Best of luck on getting your squeeks and rattles fixed.
