30k Service?

So I have had my 06 Titan for exactly one month. I bought it close to having 28 thousand miles. I planned on taking it to the dealer where I purchased it to complete the 30k service. Today the CHECK ENGINE SOON light came on.

I called Midway Nissan in Phoenix and they quoted me $530!! Can that be correct?

The quote was for oil, tranny, coolant change, new filters, and rotate tires..
I used to take my old car in to another dealer and it was no where near that much..

Being I just bought the truck, I was told it undergoes a 32 point inspection before selling. I could be wrong but this seems a little much.. Is this what I can expect?

Thanks

Re: 30k Service?

Yep!! Dealer's 30,000 miles service is expensive and not worth it!!!

But, do get your check engine light, checked out.

Good Luck.

Re: 30k Service?

Wow I cant believe it. I'll end up taking my truck to my mechanic and do the service there, it will be way cheaper. After that I'll call them about the light.

Thanks again

Re: 30k Service?

You don't need that stupid inspection. All I am getting done at 30K is the tranny and coolant. All the rest of that stuff you can do o your own.

Why have the dealer change the coolant? I have done this on all my cars and trucks that I have owned. Is there something special about changing the coolant on a Titan?

Re: 30k Service?

Right. That is what I figured. I'm not able to do it where I live, but can take it to my mechanic and help do it there. I live in a condo complex. Nothing special about the coolant, that is just what the dealer said when I called.

My only concern is the Check Engine Soon light that came on this morning, I'm hoping this came on because I'm close to 30k miles.. Once I get everything done myself, I will see if my mechanic can run the code to find out how to turn it off..

My old car was a Scion XB, sometimes the dealer would forget to reset the light after servicing the car. I would just call them up and they would tell me how to reset it. Worst case scenerio I'm hoping Nissan will do this after I take care of the engine if the light is still on..

Check your gas cap.

Re: 30k Service?

I did. I clicked it once only when tightening it. I bought the cap from Autozone 3 weeks ago because it was the locking type. Filled up a few times after that and had no problems. I'll try it one more time though

Thanks for your help

Re: 30k Service?

It's definitely a good idea to do your 30k at the recommended mileage, especially if you drive the vehicle aggressively. Also, the MIL needs to be diagnosed separately. It's coming on because there is a problem, not because you need the 30k. Most likely that will be under warranty since you are only at 28k.
