Keep an eye on your tailgate cable....
Just wanted to share a minor issue I had this weekend. When I closed my tailgate after throwing some stuff in the bed something didn't look right.
I was a little amazed to see a bolt stuck between the edge of my bed and the tail light. The bolt that holds the cable end to the tailgate unthreaded for some reason and whe I shut the gate the bolt got stuck in the seam and chipped the paint and took a nice chunk out of the tail light lens.
I've never seen this happen before on any truck.....long story short....please make sure your bolts are tight. If I can prevent one paint chip, my mission has been accomplished.

Same thing happened to me - except I was lucky enough to catch it before any damage happened.

Re: Keep an eye on your tailgate cable....
Yup, bout 2 months ago the bolt fell off and the cable dropped on one side. I drove around for about a week with only one cable holding my tailgate before I realized it and tightened the bolt back in place.
I found it quite odd, as if it wasn't torqued well enough from the factory perhaps.

I hear you there. Last week I hauled a bunch of topsoil and mulch because my dump truck was in the shop. Seemingly since then I have begun to hear a bunch of rattles and squeeks that I have not heard before. One of these weekends me and a big box of metric tools are going to go over her and see if I can't get rid of some of the rattles. Maybe I'm crazy but I might come across something retarded.
Squeeks, rattles and bolts falling off aside, this is still the best truck I've ever had the pleasure of owning!

Re: Keep an eye on your tailgate cable....
Just out of curiosity which side of the tailgate have all you guys been having issues with? Maybe the guy putting the bolts on was hung over and not doing his job that day.
Mine was the right side.

That's freaky - mine was on the passenger side of the truck as well. The other was loose though - maybe they got drunk together.

Re: Keep an eye on your tailgate cable....
My passenger side fell of Saturday, after I hauled a fridge in the bed Friday night. It came unconnected when I went to put the tail gate back up.
