New guy here with a rusty problem

Hi there

New guy from Edmonton, Alberta here.

I have an '07 King Cab with a measly 7000km (4.5k miles) on the clock. Was out giving it a wash today and noticed some pretty horrible rusting problems on the side steps and front and rear bumpers. I've polished some of it out and coated it in wax but has anyone else had this issue and what route in Nissan likely to take with this? I bought the truck new 8 months ago and it has been kept in a heated garage.

Thanks, GavinR.

Re: New guy here with a rusty problem

Welcome to TT,yeah I agree this isn't normal.
Your Canadian warranty is probably spelled out a little different than the US warranty, but you should have a corrosion warranty that will cover this.
In the US the corrosion warranty is 1 year 12,000 miles(not to be confused with the "perforation" warranty) I'm sure yours is similar.Get it in and taken care of before this period goes by and you should be OK. Is it on both bumpers and step rails? The pictures you have shown look like some really poor plating on these

Thanks for that, I'll check my warranty booklet. Yep, both side steps where the water drips from the body and both bumpers. The 30 year old MGB's that I work on have better chroming on them!

Re: New guy here with a rusty problem

Hey Gavin, I'm from Lloydminster area and I also have a similar problem with rust on my 07's bumper. I am going to ask my dealer on Monday about it. Strange that it is rusting in the same spots on our bumpers.

I'm not sure if it is just the way the pictures look, but that is some of the $hitiest looking chrome I've seen on the rear bumper.
