nissans standard holdback is 2.75% of invoice less destination.
now sometimes they have holdback from other vehicles that they dealertraded for if it was not an even trade.
typically dealers will not cut into their holdback to make deals but they doit on occasion. mine stickered for 35 and got it for 30,750.
always, ALWAYS, buy at the last week of the month. its always worked well for me.
......always, ALWAYS, buy at the last week of the month. its always worked well for me.
I've seen a couple of people mention buying at the end of the month. The Titan I ordered (Sedona LE CC 4X4 w/ big tow & offroad packages) is supposed to be here on May 4th. I get the distinct feeling that the dealership isn't going to deal with me. The price they quoted a couple of months ago was MSRP ($36,210) + some BS "dealer's prep" fee of $399.
I wonder if I should sweat it out for the month of May then try to deal with them at that time.
If I were you, I would get price quotes from other dealers (a lot of people are very successful requesting bids via fax or e-mail). If your deposit is refundable, get your best deal and tell the dealership you ordered from that if they don't match (or beat, depending on how tough you want to be on them) then your going with the other dealer. If your deposit is non-refundable, then the best bid should be at least that much lower than agreed price of the truck you ordered (MSRP +$399).
Also, that $399 "dealer prep" fee is bogus. That is pure profit for the dealership according to a book called "What Car Dealers Don't Want You to Know". I wouldn't pay it. If they insisted I would go elsewhere.
this is one of my earlier posts and ChuhBaca is talking about a book that was written by the founder of this program that im talking about.
BTW, that dealer prep fee is bs. the old saying "money talks, bs walks" is so true. dealers have a hard time walking away from cash on the table. make an offer. the worst they can say is no. but seriously, this program will save you thousands off sticker.
"ok, listen up. i dont pretend to be an expert negotiator or anything, but what i do know is if you want to get the best deal possible(who doesnt) then all you need to know is www.fightingchance.com . now i do not work for them but i have used their system twice and each time i saved 4 grand ($4,000) off sticker. the reason this is better than anything that i have found elsewhere is it not only gives you the invoice price, which by the way is available on most sites. it also gives you info on holdback(the percentage the dealer makes from the manufacturer), incentives(as listed in Car Deals, a bi-weekly printout of all manufacturers and current rebates/financing info) as well as depreciation, crashtests etc... the best thing about this is it tells you how to negotiate this great deal. im sure we have all seen the internet banking commercials "when banks compete, you win" well it can work that way when you buy a vehicle also. i faxed every dealer in Missouri and they called me with offers. when round one was done i called them back to tell them what the low bid was and they either will deal some more or say good luck. And when all is said and done you KNOW that you did everything you could to make an informed purchase and got the best deal possible."

I bought and used this system too. The best $30 you can ever invest. Bought my Titan for $131 under invoice at a time (January 2004) when dealers were still quoting MSRP (and many paid it). Remember all they can do is say no, and the more people you put your prospective business in front of the better chance you have of someone saying yes!
I've got a friend here in town that tried to deal with the local dealership but couldn't get them to do anything. He called a mutual friend of ours up in Georgia who has a Nissan dealership and ended up getting his Titan for $500 over invoice.
If the local dealer won't work with me then I wonder how good my chances would be of having the out-of-town dealer do a dealer trade and selling me the Titan for $500 over invoice.
We have some dealers here in Maryland who will sell at or below invoice. Just call around (or better still use the web and go through their Internet Manager), be nice, be professional, be courteous, do your homework, and they will deal. Pretty good selction of Titan's available.
Good stuff here guys. I've been to a few dealers to look and test drive some Titans. Been very impressed. But I just can't seem to find the exact model/color I want. So I'm thinking factory order is the way to go. The salesman at the last dealer I was at said that they couldn't give me the same "deal" on a factory order as they could on an in stock model. Is this true?
I picked mine up today, I found what I wanted and at a price I was satisfied with (invoice according to a couple websites). Got it at Carlock Nissan in Blytheville, AR. To those who helped with some advice and leads of dealers to work with thanks.
Guess what plates I'm puttin in for!

Don
don, dont let them screw you!
the advantage for a dealer when they order a vehicle for you is that it doesnt sit on their lot when they get it in. its a done deal, so there is no reason why you cant get a good deal on an ordered titan. it may not be as good of a deal as a dealer who has had a titan on his lot for 1-2 months but, you should still be able to get it for no more than 500 to 600 over invoice if not less. just make sure you negotiate a price ahead of time. im sure you already knew that though. good luck, let me know how it goes.
Actually, there is no "legitimate" reason why the dealer cannot order the truck you want from the factory at invoice (or lower) cost to you. However, the dealer just isn't motivated to do so for various reasons, some are as follows:
(1) He/She has inventory on his/her lot to sell first.
(2) He generally orders more "loaded" or "optioned" trucks that provide a greater margin of profit.
(3) He wants to make his profit now, not wait for the truck to be built and delivered some months later.
I would check with a few of your local dealer's competitors--even if they are not so close by. Call them, tell them what you want, negotiate a price. If you negotiated the price you want (it should not be too far from invoice), and they are willing to order the truck (remember, selling cars/trucks is their business--Nissan wants them to sell cars and trucks) you can either let them order it, or go back to your local dealer with the deal and leverage him.
One of the best sources or information on the car/truck buying process--one I discovered several years ago is: http://www.carbuyingtips.com/
Check it out--I am sure it will educate and save you money. It has helped me. Good Luck!

Great news FRD ETR. Just got mine 4/24 in Minnesota. I bet you are going to burn up some of the flatland country roads around Blythesville. I used to come over there from my hometown of Arbyrd, Mo. (About 30 miles by those back roads) to watch the B-52 s fly out. There used to be a ramshakle Bar-B-Que joint out at the base that seved the best Bar-B-Que pork sandwich I have ever found. Any chance it is still there. You just can not find that viniger, tomato and pepper Bar-B-Que sauce flavor anywhere up here in the Northland.

Shadylane
I'm actually 60 miles north, so I'm not for sure if the Bar-B-Que joint is still there but, most of these little towns have good Bar-B-Que if you know where to look.
