Recommended Dealer

If there is a potential buyer in the Denver Metro area, Email me and I can
recommend a dealer who will give you a good deal. I am not a salesman and am not associated with a dealership in any way. Also, I purchased a LE Monday afternoon. Ray

Almost ready to sign...

Been going back and forth, and finally about to sign for a Titan.

The deal is $27,000 or $27,100 (I have it written down somewhere) on a 4 wheel drive SE with Big Tow and King Cab with the Popular Package. There's a $299 doc fee.. and that's it.. so we're looking at $27299 or $27399.

Judging from what I've read, we're doing pretty good.

When can we get the locking diff.

I'd like to thank everyone who contributed as well. Very much appreciated!

I went to my local dealer here in Orange County, CA. It's very close to my work and when I had my work badge on they said that my company did busiiness with them, and they were going to initiate an employee plan for my company anyway, so I could have a no haggle $500 over invoice. I think that's fair enough. After all 3% of 34k is only about $1,020. That's not a lot of money out here, especially condsidering the price of realestate.

I originally went in asking about the availability of the locking rear differential, of which their Titan expert (very nice guy, by the way) knew nothing about.
I test drove and liked a 4x4 LE CC they had on the lot, but I wanted the locking rear. Now, I'm beginning to wonder if it's worth the wait.

I've been back at least four times and I can not get a straight answer as to whether I can order one with the locker, or when they are coming off the line. Each time I go in they say they will call me back, but never do.

70boss (thanks again for your candor) do you know, and are you by any chance in southern California? I really want to buy one of these trucks.

My last visit to the dealer I was told not until the 05's are available, but they couldn't say when that would be either.

Titans on sale in Houston

Baker Jackson Nissan in Houston has an add in the papere today. Titan King Cab for $18,524, several to choose from. They have also had adds on the radio recently offering Crew cabs at $22,500. I already own a Titan LE, Crew Cab, 4x4, off road, big tow, DVD, sun roof, kitchen sink, (everthing but Nav.) and am very happy with the deal I got. But we all know what a great truck this is even in base form. This is a great deal. This dealership is on my way to work and I always see 15-20 Titans on their lot.

I got Titan LE CC 4WD, Big Tow, Side Airbag for invoice in Tampa. Did not haggle, but it is likely that I could have gotten few hundred more off if I did. I pick it up in two days. Can't wait.....

In DC/MD, dealer $1000 below

Picked up a Titan about 3 weeks ago, saw discussion regarding pricing.
In case anyone in DC/MD(Silver Spring) area is looking for a Titan, till end of May $1000 below invoice on in stock, mine was $900 below since they pulled from another dealer.
I can forward email of pricing for anyone who needs it.

BTW, Anyone know if they have a gas pump that uses the utility rack system?

Steve, where are you getting your Titan from? I'm just curious. I live in Apex, NC. I have been evaluating the Titan, F-150 and Ram. The Titan has the most get up and go, so I'm leaning that way. Did you get a good deal on the Titan??

Gezon,
I feel lucky...I guess. I ordered my Titan from a very cordial and helpful salesman. I agreed on a price $448 over invoice which was offered immediately by the sales staff. I agreed with zero haggle and shook their hand with a smile. The specs of my order are in my signature.

Quick Plug: Lloyd Nissan Panama City, Florida

I recommend them every day.

You'll get a much better deal if you're civil and you actually know what a good deal is. $500 above would get you No Deal if you are a jerk to me. $400 over may get you a deal if you can be pleasant. Get it? But the thing I guess I didn't take into consideration is the fact that I don't treat customers like most salespeople do. And I have to give everyone the recognition that alot of the time buying a car sucks because of the games you have to play. So I appologize if I sounded like an assh#ole salesman. I get irritated because of the way that people treat the salesman on top of demanding a price that kills the profit that I get paid on. I wind up working for a small commission for 2 hours while some jerk abuses me by saying things like "If you don't want my money...so and so will!" etc. I know what Titans are going for in the area and I am going to make sure that you get as good or a little better deal than my compitition. I make a living on customer service. Trust me, I want you to trust me and come back to see my in the future. I want you to tell your friends to come see me. I just forget that soooo many salespeople give the ones like me a bad rap. I see where you all are coming from. Just realize that if you're getting a good deal and your salesperson is helpful, you'll get along great as long as there is a happy medium for both of you. Both sides have to agree for best results. It's amazing how enjoyable customers get the best care. I wash all my customers cars when I see them in for service, stuff like that. Not because I have to, but because I like them. I'll get to the end here, but the bottom line is that it's a hell of a truck. Most likely the best half ton out there. (the point could definitely be argued pretty easily) I say, DO find out what invoice is, but realize there are factors that can affect it so don't assume is exactly the amount you find online everytime. BUT, I think you're setting yourself up for an "all the dealer sees in you is a sale" type relationship than someone they like. Not that you need to buy their friendship. But there are perks for being an appreciated customer and not an un-realistic, beat up the salesman, hard to get along with type. If you get the typical slimy, fast talking slimy salesman...Beat him up!! lol. Just walk out of the dealership then. Just be realistic. Off like a prom dress...

Frankly, I could care less if the salesman or dealership makes a dime on a sale. I care about getting the cheapest price possible. I am not responsible for the well being of either of them.
You say buy domestic if you wnt to pay invoice , WEll If someone has not mentioned it yet the Titan is a domestic NOW!!
Not built by Jap.but by american hands. And I expect NO!! demand the same discounts!!
And as everyone can atest they are making them just as ****y as the OTHER domestic company's

As for paying above invoice, they are selling so bad in MASS. that the dealers are going as much as $5000.00 OFF sticker which is about $2000 UNDER invoice
I do like the Titan and plan on buying one in Sept. when I hope all the bugs are fixed and Nissan will be so hardup to get rid of the 2004 to make room for the 2005 WE the Titan buying public will be getting great deals. How do you like them apples gezon motors ****head!!!

You go, man!

Great Post! I'm with you. Me, I'd rather pay for my OWN kid's college education than pay for some car salesman's child. BUYER BEWARE! Do your homework and become educated on the vehicle of your choice and car dealer TACTICS. The internet and particularly this website are good sources for information and you can arm yourself with quite an arsenal before you make YOUR deal! I, along with most of the population, dread the car shopping experience, and it's mostly due to the high pressure, double talking sales tactics. I figure there are enough ignorant car buyers out there who will buy their car at or close to MSRP, which will keep the car dealers "in the black". This alone should allow a few of the "educated" buyers to make the best buy possible. Also, the factory holdback and dealer incentives are the profits that THEY never reveal to you when they tell you that they are "ACTUALLY LOSING MONEY ON THE DEAL"! Pure BS! Try the FAX ATTACK method and email all dealers within 100 miles and tell them what you're willing to pay (after you've done your homework). All you're looking for is ONE response - THE RIGHT ONE! This way, you don't have to put up with all the BS from ALL of the STEALERS! I've mentioned this site before, but here it is again - fightingchance.com . It's loaded with info on car buying and dealing with the STEALERS! It can save you THOUSANDS! When you do go in to the dealership to make your deal: 1.Carry a folder, containing all your info on the vehicle(dealer cost, rebate if any, options wanted, confirmed quote, etc.); 2. Bring a small calculator to check their figures on the final sales figure (they WILL try to slip in some added costs such as advertising, paint/fabric protection, window etching (what a joke!), document fees, ETC; 3. Go with resolve - do not give in to any tactic and let them know that you will WALK if and when they stray from the original deal; 4. Watch closely in the business office, this is the last chance for them to get to you on the numbers; 5. Forget the extended warranty, YOU"VE ALREADY GOT ONE! They just want to sell you one that's overpriced and finance it for the life of the loan and it doesn't even go into effect until the original one(s) expire! You can get an aftermarket warranty that's at least as good, if not better than the factory extended warranty at a helluva savings when your original factory warranty is close to expiration. Good luck to all future TITAN buyers! QUOTE=Jvodka]Frankly, I could care less if the salesman or dealership makes a dime on a sale. I care about getting the cheapest price possible. I am the finacial leader of my house as well. My wife has slowly gained trust in my ability to run a tight ship at home so that we can go forward and have a little prosperity. That being said it is my duty to do the best research on large purchases whether it be a vehicle or a grill or no matter what household item. I researched trucks for more than a year and then once I decided on a path I started researching and testing the attitudes and willingness of ALL Atlanta Nissan dealers. I began to correspond with most of them through email and this went on for several weeks. As time went on some of the dealers bowed out and that was their decision as other dealers kept on pursuing my interest. Some dealers were not willing to exclude the cost of floor mats and even one said that they came with the truck and the cost was $100 case closed. So he bowed out I guess. However, three dealers kept bidding against each other until I found the price and the attitude of willingness that I liked. I had to drive an hour across Atlanta to Stone Mountain Nissan, but I give the representative and the dealership props for being very cordial through the ordeal. I know even though I came away very happy with the low price that they still made profit otherwise they wouldn't have sold it. I was cordial to them and they were cordial to me and so far I am very happy with the purchase.

In summary I had a good experience negotiating with several dealers at one time through email and came away with a pretty good price and he through in the floor mats for free which some of the other dealers proclaimed that was impossible.

How much is the dealership making on my deal?

There is several ways in which a sale can eventually impact a dealerships bottom line.

A Nissan dealership has less to gain on the commonly advertised "INVOICE" sale that we all have seen run at our local domestic dealerships. Nissan "holds back" 2% of dealer cost on each of its vehicles. Whereas the big three "hold back" 3% of MSRP. So, this being said, a Ford dealership that sells you a truck at their "invoice" price sees a more substantial return after the sale than a Nissan dealership would on a comparably priced vehicle. With this in mind, a Ford that lists for $40,000 even when sold at cost, will net the dealership $1200.00 ($40,000 x .03). On the other hand, a Nissan that lists for $40,000 will have a dealer cost of approx. $36,500 so, a dealership would only net $730.00 ($36,500 x .02).

To make things even more confusing, most manufacurers also have some sort of sales volume based quaterly or annual incentives as well as the benefit of sales volume based future vehicle allocations. A greater number of allocations means that there will be more selection on the lot for the consumer. A larger selection generally leads to higher consumer interest in a given dealership. Higher interest can lead to eventual higher sales. Higher sales means a fatter bottom line and even more allocation for the next year. It is a cyclic process. One thing leads to another and before you know it you're shopping at the largest, most profitable dealership in your area.

I set my sights at a dealership profit of $1000.00 per sale. If you go for anything less than this it can be insulting to your dealer and it also becomes tough to keep the lights on. They have alot of asssociated costs in selling you a vehicle (salesperson's salary, benefits, building expense, inventory interest, etc...).

It would be nice if, as a consumer, it didn't require so much effort to obtain a FAIR deal and everything was more upfront. Unfortunately the burden is on our shoulders, as consumers, to be educated and get what we can for our money. Good luck to all.

P.S.
I paid $8.00 over dealer cost for my Titan. The dealship only made about $700 on my deal (List $36,780.00, sold to me at $33,200). I didn't expect to end up at this number when I went in but, they were aggressive and wanted my business badly enough that ultimatelly I paid less than I was willing to.
