Consider changing something
Go for Canteen Green, or ask the dealer, if there is any similar configured
trucks he could make a better deal on.

I've been researching the Titan for a couple of weeks now. I went and test drove trucks one day just for the fun of it and ever since, I have more and more trouble getting into my '98 Silverado K1500. This site has been very helpful, thanks to everyone who has posted. Elbo I think you make a lot of good points except for one. I have to look at my truck everyday before I get into it. "But I got a good deal" would not exorcise the demons in my mind if I have to look at a puke green truck 2-6 times a day for the next 3,5 or 10 years. The balance that has to be met is not just in the negotiations, between the buyer and the dealer, but also within. A person has to decide what they want, if money is no object, then decide how much they're willing to sacrafice for the good deal. I absolutely love the Titan, so far I've driven everything but the Toyota(which isn't really full size anyways) and there's no comparison. However I would rather continue to drive my 98 chevy, than have to stare at a puke green truck as I make that long walk through the parking lot everyday after work.

Ah, I was just mentioning that as an example. The green.. I don't think the Gold or Brownred, are very popular colors either. If your not negotiable, on those items then your not negotiable. It's not a big deal..

Regarding what the nissan dealer guy said:
300 or $400 over invoice!!? So freaking what! Plenty of savy buyers are buying them for 300 to $500 under invoice! The dealer doesn't have to sell them at that cost, but some dealers choose to. Right now trucks are just not the hottest ticket in town, especially with people who are concerned with fuel economy, and lots of competition. However a convertible Z, or a new 2005 Odyssey Minivan will probably cost you premium. It's all supply and demand. So don't be whiney.. If you want to pay $1000 over msrp, or whatever, it's all good. But if the dealer is going to make me a deal.. Then you know where my money goes.

I am able to buy with a vpp thru nissan, you go in and show them your vpp number and they (dealer) show you invoice and thats what you are supposed to get it for basically.I have been looking for a base se 4x2 kingcab w/ no options. dealer invoice should be $22056.00 .cars direct says their price is $21231.00(including incentive) if you subtract the $1500.00 from $22056.00 = $20556
I live in the San Diego area and all of the nissan dealers except for one are own by the same dealer group, and they wont look outside of their stock .they came in $1300.00 more than the $20556. any suggestions???
should I look in L.A. ???? or am i getting the best deal I can???? I have spent several days investigate and I am about ready to say screw it and buy a xlt supercab for $ 17999.00

Go to New-Nissans.com (here in the Supporting Vendor section and or on our web site), we are in the Seattle Tacoma area of Washington State and most of our Southern California customers have found that by taking the 3 day trip, with trade-in, or a 1.5 day trip with no trade, that even with either considering the $150 plane ticket or likewise in Gas, that the New-Nissans.com deal is the better way to go than any local deals. No matter what, good luck!

Great thread wth tons of info!

I bought my Armada pretty much over the phone. I used the websites carbuyingtips.com and fightingchance.com and haggled over the phone/fax (mostly with sales managers and fleet managers). It came down to about a half dozen dealers from about the 15 or so I started with. When I finally had the best price, I was in and out in about the time it took to prep the truck.

The biggest pointers I have are:
-Know your credit rating
-Have financing in place before discussing with dealers (allow them to beat what you already have)
-Be polite and know EVERYTHING about the vehicle so what you are talking about when haggling.

I have finally got a deal and I am supposed to pick it up tomorrow night.
I have faxed , emailed all over cali and walked into dealers and had my credit union look around. It was hard to find what I wanted they would have the options but not the color or have the color but not the options or to many options. The vpp program was not working out, the invoice price they kept showing me was always a couple of grand more than what the internet list it at $22056.00 se 4x2 base. the credit union did pretty good... they sent me a quote and I realized the dealer the vehicle was coming from had sent me a quote earlier, I called him up and he beat out my credit union bY $503.00. credit union cant match and says dealer cant do it either they are just trying to get me In the dealer . Dealer swears he has got the truck and his price is right no BS. Credit union 3 blocks away, dealer about 100mi away.
2004 se 4x2 red brawn with popular captains and utility package , floor mats and splash guard. $25458.42 out the door! I look up on edmunds added up thier invoice pricing added 9% to cover 7.75 tax and dmv docs and tire charge and he came out $17.10 over what I calculated so.... he is quoteing me invioce base price and invioce option prices just like those cool guys at
new-nissan.com(except no 500.00 below but costa mesa is alot close than wash.)I think thats the best I can do! I will find out tommorow night if its a real deal or not .

does anybody have an opinion on the price?????

Sounds good to me. Let us know how it went with the delivery.

The best price I have gotten is $100 below invoice on "any Titan on the lot," which is many.

However, I have not yet checked out new-nissans.com. Has anyone bought from them, and can you relay your experience? They are close to me, so it would be worthwhile to save a few hundred bucks.

Also, I suspect the rebate will be increasing soon, so I think I'll wait another week or two to see what happens.

Hi folks! I just purchased my Titan this weekend and I am in truck nirvana! This baby is all I could hope for and more. I have been checking out your sight and reading many of your discussions over the last 6 months or so and I want to thank you for all of your advice.

I picked up my 98 Honda form the repair shop (who new road signs crossed the road?) which was right up the road form the Nissan dealer. I decided to stop by and have my monthly drool sesion knowing I couldn't afford a Titan. A saleseman came over with the usual BS as I was looking at a smoke SE with off road, popular, towing and bed packages almost exactly like I wanted. Long story short they gave me what I feel was a great deal on the truck and the trade in of my Honda. I walked out paying, if you include my trade in, $27,700 for the truck, leather (installed Monday), extended warrinty and TT&L. Needless to say I am super happy and a proud member of the Titan family. Thanks again for all of the great discussions.

Latest Experience...

Although I can't find anything official, apparently the rebate is now 2000.00

For your amusement...

I worked with United Nissan in Morrow GA, and brought an ad from sutherlin Nissan XE Crew preferred package for 18,988. I figured at that price, I'll take it! The Sutherlin folks are a bunch of BS artists. The fine print is all ad vehicles are "plus tax, tag, license, and customer desired options" What they neglect to mention is the delivery fee 680.00, paint protectant (for a truck that still has the plastic on the top surfaces)1200.00, wheel locks 300.00, spare tire lock 99.00, and dealer doc fee 489.00 which of course must be paid. What a load of CRAP!!

The Untied experience goes like this. a few weeks ago a dealer ran an ad for 5000 off MSRP for all crew cabs. 2 wheel drive SE with popular bench (have to have it), floor mats, splash guards, and bedliner was 28780. They actually came down to 23780, and put 14500 into my trade (reasonable as well), but their doc fees were 620.00, and for me Ford under the X-Plan does not charge any doc fees. Anyways...26000 even drive out, but I was looking for mid to low 25's. This one was a no-go. But after seeing the ad today, I figured if I could actually do an XE preferred out the door for 21500 (remember the sutherlin ad) I'd just get some SE wheels/tires and a chrome rear bumper and be happy.

Well, 3 weeks (and many check up calls) since my last visit, my Mustang has somehow lost 1500.00 in value, and the best they would do is 26,880 drive out for less truck. Apparently I looked all bruised, beat up, and dirty. But, since I didn't just fall off the turnip truck, I figured I'd let them keep this one. I'm not at all happy with this latest offer, but they do have about the best salesperson I've ever dealt with working there, so I may try once more in the future.

I'm just going to sell the car myself, and maybe try this again later. I really don't want the Ford, but it is a much easier process. I just wanted all of you to know that the rebate (according to United Nissan) is actually 2000.00 now. So go get 500.00 extra dollars off yesterdays deal!

Any better Dealers in the Atlanta area??

Just my 2 cents.
