Tailgate won't open

Off to pick up 30 bags of pre-mix...got all checked out
from the lumber yard and the yard guy is going to fork
it into my bed...tailgate won't open! Yes it's unlocked....

Looking at the tailgate, the right side unhinges but the
left side won't...I push the right side totally shut and try
again...still won't come loose. It's almost like the lift lever
gets the right side but nothing is happening internally on
the left side.

Anybody got any ideas before I have to deal with the dealer?

BTW..those bags of pre-mix are heavy to lift by hand over
the top of the tail.......

i played with my stuck tailgate (when i slammed it too hard, i guess)
with turning the key side to side and pulling the lever up and down few times then it clicked back to normal

My Uncle retired from Solar Turbines down in San Diego, we worked there when they were a division of IH. Smaller world.......
