If anyone is having problems with the RF radio reception or performance, you should call 1800-nissan1. I did and they said I was the first person to register a complaint about the problem. My FM reception is terrible, especially when moving. The dealer check the connections and could find nothing wrong with that. The dealer contacted Nissan for some guidance. I was pleased to find that the dealership was so progressive. When talking to the Nissan rep, he said that Country Nissan had called in with the problem. Sounds like the type of service department that will do good by me.

The main problem i've found is that the radio doesn't sound nearly as good as CD's do. The system doesn't even play the bass when the radio is on. When you toss in a CD though it's like a concert hall.
That is the same thing I notice. The radio is no where near as good as CD. It is almost as if the gain is not set high enough for the radio. The reception is poor, compaired to my maxima.
I will call in tomorrow and talk to them about it.
FM reception is HORRIBLE. I don't listen to stations much but when I do it is in and out of stereo CONSTANTLY. Very annoying and pretty unacceptable, especially considering these are relatively local stations (within 20 miles of the truck).
BTW, radio stations do not and will not sound as good as CDs due to bandwidth limitations from FM broadcasts, but there is a huge difference between radio stations and CDs that in my opinion shouldn't be that great in this truck.
For reference I have the mid grade stereo...I.E. 6 disc changer but not the RF system.
If the reception is THAT bad, with stations 20 miles away not being received, I'd be half tempted to take it in to make sure the antenna's connected, and that the antenna connector doesn't have a short...
hey guys i am having the same reception problem and i have the upgraded 6 disc and i have only about 35 miles from radio stations. i called nissan and they said that i was the first to call . so anyone thats having a receptioon problem please call and if your not having the problem call anyways . i think this is unacceptable for a radio. i cannot even listen to stations that i really like. dam it nissan fix our radio

Funny when I mention this to my dealer he said is was designed that way, I started laughing and said you have got to be kidding, I just want it fixed, my salesman made such a big deal out of the RF and plus in order to get DVD had to have it. Well again give me a number I will join the fight.

the number is 1-800-nissan1 press#7 and then press 1 and type in ext.8457 and talk to steve the titan specialist. hes very nice but probably no fix for us

Volume going up and down, sounds like a SSV setting. Some of these radios have "Speed Sensitive Volume", I not kidding your truck is very sensitive .
When pushing the audio button (tuner) to set BASS TREB BAL etc if "SSV" pops up that may your problem. I think it has a OFF, HI, LO setting. See the owners manual (it's the book in the glove box nobody has read since buying their first car ).
Hopefully between this and the antenna connections being properly seated most of the radio issues should just fade away.

here is how you properly reproduce part #1 of the problem:
set the volume to 5
play the CD Player
play the radio with a powerful local station (1/2 volume of CD)
put CD into a "Walkman" and play it via AUX. Make sure volume on "Walkman" is all the way up (you cannot hear it until vol on R/F is set to 10)
The SSV turns up the volume when accelerating, what is noticed is the station fading / loosing "RDS or stereo" when accelerating.
First I have any signal problems (using mid grade 6 cd unit). I would suggest as a test that if you are one thinging you have signal problems, look at the display - if you see "ST" - you don't have signal problems (from the manual) - in that case you probably have something else wrong.
As far as the Radio to CD volume level - I would test that with engine off while parked. If you switch between the 2 while driving - who knows how that SSV thing works - i.e. does it start back at normal level when you switch? Who knows?
Do you have a tape deck at home? Play a tape - don't adjust volume then switch to CD - (or radio, or Phono etc) that's the nature of the beast in my opinion. AUX input - nope, I don't care what "digital" device you plug into to that - sorry, Its analog as soon as it comes out of your device. Different kinds of signals here. radio will never sound (or be) as full as CD - and we're interpreting that as "not as loud".
Other stereos may make adjustments for that to fool us, but it is what it is - My two cents.

Second, the Aux should probably only used with a unit that has a Line out and not a headphone out only. Just a thought.
Third, I'm cool with the CD/Radio volume difference. The reason, I know the quality of CD output, I don't know what I going to get from the Radio.
Forth, I'm going to buy an Aftermarket XM radio unit and plug it into the AUX and test my own theory, and if it does what you say, I'll be calling too.

We are starting to get close to the same page now.
On all of my high quality home theater equipment, and most amps which have multiple inputs, there is a bias or level control. Some are hardware some are soft/firmware.
These need to be leveled so as you switch from one to another they provide the same dB level from the output. My wife's 04 Maxima has the same style of radio, and it does NOT change in volume from one mode to the other. She also can receive radio stations I cannot when we are parked next to each other.
This is what we want Nissan to review with R/F and fix. Find why reception is so poor, and adjust the amp to provide even output levels.
