I FINALLY got to wash my Titan for the first time yesterday when I got home from work. I didn't have a chance to go over it REALLY well afterwards due to the fact it was starting to get dark by the time I was done. Today, after I got home from work, I looked the truck over really well...
First, I noticed when I first got the truck a few scuffs on the right side of the truck in the VERY rear, just in front of the bumper. No biggie. The dealer's lot had a bunch of snow on it just prior to me getting the truck. Someone probably rubbed up against it while shoveling. I know they'll buff out with wax...
Well, today I notice that the scuffs transition into a scratch that runs down the whole right side of the truck!!! I KNOW this did not happen after I picked up the truck. I park nowhere near ANYONE and I KNOW I didn't scratch it. The worst of it is in the passenger door. I'm NOT happy...
Another thing, my ticking is getting worse. This is the ticking I mentioned immediately after joining this site. Yesterday I noticed it being much worse than ever before. It sounds like a "ping" from premature detonation. Once out driving for 20 minutes or so, it seems to go away. IMHO, it sounds like an exhaust leak. Maybe a clamp is loose, and once the exhaust is fully hot it expands enough to seal the leak. I don't know, but whatever it is the dealer needs to address it.
I'm just not happy right now. The scratch, the ticking, the sqeaks from the plastic around the gauge housing... I'm just venting, but I'm really irritated...
That ticking could very well be an exhaust leak. Lifter tick typically doesn't go away, but an exhaust can and does when the metal expands and clamps the hole.

Take it back to the dealer and have them correct the problems for you.

I agree. Overall I am happy. I'm sure Nissan had nothing to do with the scratch. It's something that I'm not happy about, but may very well have to live with considering on Thursday I'll have had the truck in my posession for two weeks. I just like my things to be undamaged, that's all...
The ticking is something I'm concerned about, but not PO'ed about. Mistakes happen, especially with vehicles that have been produced for such a short period of time. It's been a long day and the scratch is really under my skin...
Just got off the phone with the dealer. They are having the scratch professionally fixed next week. They did not even challenge me when I stated that it HAD to be present when I took delivery of the vehicle.
Also, tomorrow I'm going in for my first oil change and to have my other concern diagnosed; the pinging... (which, go figure, it wasn't doing this morning at all...)
What octane and from what gas company are you buying gas from?

It sure sounds like pinging. I'm only running 87 octane. I only even PLAN on running 87 octane considering Nissan states that the minumum recommended octane level is 86.
I have considered the "bad gas" potential cause of the problem. The gas in it is from a gas station I have never purchased fuel from before. I have purchased from OTHER stations of the same company, but not that particular station. It's from Royal Farms, and it is their brand of fuel. Envoy. (I believe that's the brand name they use)
I had bad gas from a station once before in my '03 Honda Interceptor motorcycle and it pinged like CRAZY under acceleration. I added some Chemtool B12 to the tank and it cleared the problem right up. I am just about empty now, and will refill with a name brand gas from a station I've fueled up at with no problem before today. Maybe the problem will disappear, who knows?

Could be the gas, but could be the exhaust, too! A bunch of us Tundra owners had exhaust manifolds that were over-tightened at the factory, and cracked.
My Dakota and the Wife's Durango will tick like that if we use 87 octane for more than 1 tank.
I normally use 91 from Costco and get greater acceleration with no ticking at all.

that is impossible, 91 octane fuel burns at a higher temperature (higher flash point) so that it doesn't pre-detonate (detonate/ping/knock), which is why you should use it on high compression motors, or motors with forces induction, I.E. turbo, supercharger...
BUT IT WILL IN NO WAY MAKE YOUR CAR/TRUCK/SUV faster, unless it is bad gas, the lower octane is better for an engine that reccomends it, higher octane leaves more unburned fuel which translates to more carbon buildup, and the titan motor doenst burn hot enough to need this fuel, not to mentsion that all motors sold in the us sence about 1993 have knock sensors, and would triger a CEL if it was knocking and pinging as bad as you say it is, it is probably another problem, or bad gas.

stevnmd, Great too hear you getting it fixed! For everyone too know. If your under 12k and anything, and i mean anything is wrong the dealer will fix it. scratches, bumps, scraps. Now if its a large dent that you hit a building with, thats different. Anything small that looks like it could have come from dealer will be fixed. Great too see a fellow marylander here. Maybe i will see your titan running around sometime steve. your about 15miles from me. Have fun guys..
