A/C Condenser Fan Recall Question

Just had the dealer perform the necessary recall fix today.Im a little concerned with what the new motor looks like.At first glance it appeared to be a thick grease but its actually a sealant of some sort. Here are some pictures please let me know if this is normal.Thanks.

Re: A/C Condenser Fan Recall Question

From the recall notice, a "water intrusion kit" probably includes grease!

My guess is that all is hunky dory.

Now I have to go get mine done!

Re: A/C Condenser Fan Recall Question

Well thats what im concerned about its not the water intrusion kit. They installed a new fan, wire harness and max fuse.I dont know if this sealant is something from the factory or a defective fan motor.

Looking at your picture, it looks like it was pressed in and then the excess oozed out...

Re: A/C Condenser Fan Recall Question

my new motor looks the same, the folks at GATE wanted to make sure it was sealed I guess. It does look sloppy.

Re: A/C Condenser Fan Recall Question

My 05 has the original Gate fan model. It looks like the pic, but no sealant smeared all over it.

Re: A/C Condenser Fan Recall Question

If you guys have this recall notice take it to the dealership. This new fan is much quieter than the old one and also runs alot smoother.

Re: A/C Condenser Fan Recall Question

Be careful on the fan recall, I had mine done, replaced the fan and new harness, but the check they do is only straight to the harness, which bypasses all power normally applied to the fan. Mine was in for an axle seal replace, which they replaced the whole axle now, and told them after the replacement of the fan, I have yet to ever hear the fan on, it is hot now up here so they found the 40 amp fuse blown. My last fan was seized on my 06, so make sure they check that fuse if you have to have a fan replaced or the recall done period in my opinion. The test they use does not use vehicle normal harness power to check on the recall. Just a tip for those out there.

Re: A/C Condenser Fan Recall Question

I just took mine in yesterday and apparently I don't need the fan replaced! I guess there is a Type 1 and a Type 2 and it's the Type 2's that are in need of being replaced. Although they are replacing something to do with the rear seat belts under another recall...

Re: A/C Condenser Fan Recall Question

I took my 06 titan in for the recall about a week ago and since then the passenger floorboard has been soaked. There has been no rain for a while and i have not spilled anything and it is a lot of water. It is starting to smell funny. Anyone know something, i took it to the dealership andd it has been sitting for 6 hours untouched.

There is a TSB out there for the evap drain through the firewall. Ask them about that. Shouldn't be anything to do with the fan really, and it probably was there before. The hose is either too short or gets kinked on the evap drain and that causes the drain from the evap to drain water down inside the passenger side and gets the carpet all nasty and musty.

That fan looks like they did a cheapo fix on trying to keep water out instead of what the TSB states for them to do. I would look up the TSB and find out if that is allowed. I think they charged a fan fix and just rigged it the way they think it should be.

Re: A/C Condenser Fan Recall Question

They did mine about 3or4 months ago. I looked down at the new fan assy. after work and saw all that goo. I went right back to the dealer to ask what all the RTV was. As they are the best dealer I have delt with the SM droped what he was doing and looked at what we all see. He said that mine was one of the first they had done. He pulled two more fan assy's out of parts stock, opened the sealed boxes and both were gooed up just like the one on my truck. I had to opoligize for acusing them of some bs work. The SM said don't worry about it he was glad I brought it to their attention so if another customer had my concern they knew first hand that it's like that from Nissan. BTW my fan is super quite after the re-call.

Re: A/C Condenser Fan Recall Question

Well they put a new fan on mine, it was seized on my 06, and it doesn't have any of that stuff on there. I will get some pics when I get it back from the dealer, another issue I can't go into right now but will. Not the fan though, they should have put a new harness on as well with the recall. Be careful, the fan replacement is a totally different part number and fan, that might have been old stock they had on the shelf, I checked the part number of the one they were replacing mine with and it was the new part number. I made sure of that because I didn't want them to put back in there a piece of junk they had on the shelf that was going to do the same thing again in six months.
