Problem with the outside storage door

Hello, I've been reading the threads for a couple of days and finally have something to add. On my Titan, the door for the outside storage compartment has a small indention in the metal just above the handle and there is also a slight crease that runs parallel to the top edge. I took it to the dealer today and the service guys first response was that I was hit by something. Luckily there was another Titan sitting in the parking lot, so I went to look at it and sure enough it had the exact same issue. We proceeded to the unsold Titans on the lot and they all have some sort of deformity on the door. The service guy asked if I could come back tomorrow to show his manager. Hopefully they will not give me too much grief and just fix it. Will let you all know what they say.

UPDATE: Went to the dealer today and the service manager looked at the outside storage door. After a few minutes of looking at it, he said the indention is from having to slam the door to get it to close (because the metal is so thin) and the crease at the top is from when it was manufactured. He said he was going to submit a service bulletin to Nissan and will let me know. Does anyone else have this problem. If not, just be carefull when you close the compartment. Will keep you posted.

don't know about the crease, but I do have to slam it hard to get it to stay shut.

Yes, there was an earlier post that mentioned the problem of having to slam the door to get it shut. I had this same problem myself. The remedy is to loosen the two screws that hold on the catch and pull it forward while you tighten it. This worked for me but now I get a little water seepage into the compartment. If the door closes too easily it is probably not compressing the seal enough to keep water out. I think that this is my problem now. I now need to adjust it back the other way a little more.

Don't Slam the Door

My door is difficult to close, but I figured it was that way to ensure a tight seal. Don't slam the door though. Push the door firmly with the palm of you hand just above the lock until it clicks. That should be less damaging than slamming it, and will keep the compartment water proof.
