I noticed the same thing the other day - appeared to be at about 85 lbs/ft of torque. I also have mine back to factory specs right now - hope it doesn't cause problems.

Big Joe- Sorry to hear about your rotor problem. When you take it in if you got the chance watch how they tighten your lugs. Ask them what they torqued it too. Let us know how it went. Also if you don't mind mention to them how much this is occurring as mentioned in the forum. I'm surprised this is not mentioned in a TSB yet. How much times do I have to repeat myself that this "REALLY SUCKS!!!!!!!" - Take Care!

Will do, as soon as they get the pads and I take it back in. I asked them about the radio problems (i have the 6 cd changer non-rf) and the dealer had no clue what I was talking about. The dealer even acting like the warp rotor was normal for this size truck (bogus). Should I call the 1-800-number and drop a complaint on the rotors and radio? Maybe if we all call the number they will put an urgency on theses problems?

Hello again. I took my truck in on Monday for the brake problem. The dealer told me that they are aware of the problem and Nissan is having them put on an "upgraded brakepad". He said it was just "first production year bugs" and had nothing to do with over torquing the lugnuts or anything like that. When the brake pads come in (they of course had to be backordered), they will maching my rotors and put the new pads on. Hopefully these will perform better.

I've done my share of brake jobs in my time as a backyard weekend Do it yourselfer and am failing to understand what pads has to do w/warped rotors. But anyway let us know what the part number is for those "upgraded brakepads" so when we take our babies in for warped rotors we can make sure we get the upgraded ones as well. "THIS REALLY SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeap I wasn't too happy + the fact that the dealership near my house sux, I have mine serviced 38 miles away. So not only do i have warped rotors at 2700 miles, I got to go back again when the parts arrive. Oh well, still love the titan, still far less problems than the last truck I had. Won't say the brand. :-)

I dropped mine off this morning for the vibration issue at 4k miles. My dealer is going to replace the pads and rotors; when they come off of NATIONAL backorder. No ETA. This sucks! I spoke with Nissan customer service and they were less than helpful. I have already had an interior trim piece replaced, the AC drain line rerun to prevent the lake in the passenger footwell, the stereo problem, and numerous rattles. Thank god I purchased an extended warranty.

Someone please convince me I did not do the wrong thing by buying this truck. I miss my Audi Allroad!!

1Titan...I wanted to answer your question first about what pads have to do with rotors warping.

Pads have almost everything to do with rotor warp. Warping comes from heat. It can also come from extreme change in temperature (ice cold water on a very hot rotor). Pads come in different compositions. Some are organic, others are metallic. While metallic may wear longer they are a harder compound, causing greater friction which translates to heat. The pads will last much longer but if you're hard on brakes you'll be machining the hell out of your rotors. Organic seem to be softer and wear out sooner but as a result you tend to see less heat and less warp. Another thing about pads. Never buy aftermarket. I don't care how reputable the brand. I always get Nissan factory replacement.

Hopefully it's a pad issue and they replace pads because mine got machined at 3000 miles. I'm not too happy about it and am even considering asking them to replace with new rotors. One thing I read somewhere is that there is a known lubrication problem with calipers where the pistons don't back off all the way causing unnecessary 'drag' on the rotors. Again we're back to heat. If that's the case the rotors will definately warp. I took mine back to the dealer today to have some dash rattles addressed and also asked them to pull all 4 tires, re-lube the calipers and machine the rotors if they are at all warped.

Good luck and hope this all helps.

Wouldn't the copious quantities of brake dust indicate that the original pads are pretty soft already?

Dealer is now in the process of resurfacing the rotors and replacing the pads and calipers. Hope this resolves the problem.

Some pads conduct heat better

I think some pads conduct heat better,so they "carry" heat away from the rotors more quickly-this should keep the peak rotor temp down. They might not get up to temp as quickly,so the manu. have to balance it out.Luck,Charlie

Just got back from the dealer the other day for a great many little nagging problems and the only one that they fixed was the rotors being warped, being remachined at 4k is not the way that I would like this to go, hopefully their will be a big nice brake kit that comes out that might help this out if it continues to be an issue.

There is a nice big brake kit that came out for the Titan. And hey, its
only about $3,000!
