I'll take some tomorrow when i get to it. I don't know exactly what to do yet, but i'll figure it out hopefully when i have it apart again.

I you have problem trying to make it rattle to show to the dealer like I did, turn on the air cond and make sure the interior is cold enough and ask a tech to ride with you. I did this and was able to let the tech hear it. He made a quick fix putting some felts under the speaker and it seemed to be better (less sensitive). But something under the dash still rattles when going over rough surface like those big reflectors on the streets. The tech also agreed that if it's not the speaker, it's something under the dash.

Taking the cover off takes not even 5 minutes. Just pop open the cover on the handle to get to the screws top and bottom. After the screws are out just pull the handle off. After the handle is off pull the top of the cover off which is held by two clips. Once the two clips pop loose just pull out and up.

The part that i think is the cause of the rattle is where the two tabs on the cover slide into the slots on the dash and possibly where the cover touches the dask itself.

Well i am off to the hardware store to find some sort of felt or lining to put where ever these two pieces touch. Hopefully this is my last noise to fix. I'll let you know tonight whether it works or not.

Man this is great! Finally, we're close to a real solution to this rattle problem.

Thanks Mike,

DT

Well to post the results......That rattle is gone after that. I put some padding on the two tabs and between where the panel meets the dash. Not sure which part was rattleing but i do know its not rattleing anymore. So far it has been as quiet as can be inside. All rattle free.

After 4 trips back to the dealer, they finally fixed mine. Even in the cold temp this mornig, nothig rattles. I think TitanMike fixed the right place because that's where the dash top can be pushed up and down.

I happened to notice while i was cleaning my eclipse today that in that exact same location mitsubishi has a 1/4 inch piece of foam in between. Nissan should have put a little more thought into this i think. Afterall, this isn't the first year of making cars for them. Anyways its fixed now and I really didn't mind doing it. I like to take things apart and have been doing it since i was a little kid. My mom always got mad at me when i would take my new toys apart.
