Re: Titan is DEAD! Cranks and turns but not stay running HELP!

Can you buy the IPDM somewhere besides the dealership? My husband's truck is doing the same thing and today would not start at all. It is an 05. Who else can do the diagnostics? The dealer we spoke to said when the truck dies, the code goes away too so you don't know for sure that is what it is.

all 4 of those relays are the same (at least on mine) so you could switch any of the other 3 to the ECM socket.

if the truck runs after this, then its the relay in the IPDM, and from what ive read, there is a problem with the IPDM that makes the relays go out. so its best to replace the entire IPDM. you can get them for about $120 online and change it yourself.
you can get the IPDM elsewhere. check Nissan Parts, NISMO and Nissan Accessories - Courtesyparts.com

the ipdm on the titans are very easy to change. ive never worked on an xterra, but i can only assume it cant be that hard. the chain on the other hand.. how many miles? those arent like timing belts where you have to change them every 60k or whatever. unless its stretched you should be ok.

Re: Titan is DEAD! Cranks and turns but not stay running HELP!

I have an 04 Titan that did the same thing. Wish I had found this fourm sooner! I am going to pick it up at the dealership Friday, 1100 dollars later. They told me that the IPDM shorted out and shorted the fuel pump. They have had it for 3 weeks trying to find an IPDM. When questioned about it all I got was a runaround. I even called Nissan USA and got the same thing. Everyone denies any ongoing problems with them but couldn't or wouldn't give me any reasonable reason for not having the parts available.

Re: Titan is DEAD! Cranks and turns but not stay running HELP!

wow, i thought that my price tag of 400 was pricey for a few sensors but guess not. People here are getting charged up the roof by the dealers. I brought mine to a friend's auto shop and luckily i did, otherwise i'll still be paying the credit card bill. Good luck to you guys, and it seems this is a common problem among the titans.

The timing chains are a "lifetime" part, they don't need to be changed like a timing belt.

I'd be curious to know why that dealership is telling you the chain needs to be replaced and to prove it. Sounds like they're trying to pull a fast one on you.
