Banks Monster Exhaust making pingin sound

I recently installed the Banks Monster exhaust on my 08 Titan and it makes a wierd pinging noise when im going around 40mph and at around 1100rpm. So im barly on the gas. The sound is also stronger when im going up a slight incline. It defiently sounds like its coming from the exhaust. The pinging almost rattling sound, almost sounds like the truck is lugging and needs to downshift. Any one got any suggestions?

is your engine light on? does it sound like preignition or an exhaust leak? the exhaust manifolds are well known for cracking on these trucks. i have replaced many.

Pipe is too big so you lost some low end with the Banks.

I've had my Banks since March of 2004. The "loss of low end" is not significant to the point that it would make your truck lug going up hills. It would also not explain the pinging noise. Mine has never made that sound nor have I had any problem going up hills.

You may have a manifold issue as suggested above.

You might check and see if the muffler has been installed in the correct direction for the exhaust flow.

Make sure you do not have an exhaust leak at the gaskets that connect to the "y" pipe. The gaskets that came with my Banks at the time were flimsy and I ended up having to replace them with the stock Nissan ones that are pretty beefy.

I don't think there is anything wrong with the manifold hopefully. I just installed the exhaust 2 weeks ago and didn't have any problems with the truck making noise before. I have rechecked all the bolts and everything is tight. The engine light is not on. Ive never heard an exhaust leak before so I wouldn't even know what it would sound like. Ive called Banks too and they should get back to me soon hopefully with some info.

Well I went to Banks this morning and they couldn't figure out where the two different noises were coming from. One of the mechanics actually put duck tape on the cold air intake to see if that would fix the nasty sound coming from it when you get on the gas. And the sound coming from the exhaust they said was a heat shield touching the exhaust that they thought they fix. But that was not it. The truck still makes both sounds. Now they want me to come back next week again when one of the Banks design guys is back from vacation so he can look at it to see if it is some sort of design flaw because they had no ideas. It just sucks that I took a day of work today to try to have it fixed with no results and It will require another day yet. I really would love to have the Banks equipment work properly for me because I do like it.
