Mini lift or leveling kit?

So 2 questions. I can do a mini lift with 2.5 up front 1 in back or just the 1.5 leveling kit.

I have an 08 KK SE 4x4. My issue is gas mileage. I'm really trying it impact it as little as possible. Also, I'm looking at 305/60/18 grapplers on stock wheels so I want enough clearance but I don't want them to look small either.

Re: Mini lift or leveling kit?

2.5 up front will probably be too much up front (probably get coil bucket contact) i had 35's on stock wheels with just a leveling kit. it rubbed very little so i did a pwm. 305/60's should fit with the 1.5 my gas mileage dropped 1mpg with 35's

Re: Mini lift or leveling kit?

Agreed that on your 4x4, the 2.5 is probably too much. If you want it as level as you can get it with a spacer, go with a 2". If you want to put an inch of that rake back in go with the 1" block on the back. 305/60s on a level kit should be no problem. I'm familiar with a few that have run 325/60/18s on just a level kit with no rubbing issues.

Re: Mini lift or leveling kit?

I'm pretty sure since you're 08+ and 4x4, 1.5" is the biggest spacer you can go up front. Throw a set of blocks in the rear and call it a day after

You're right, Gus. I didn't pay attention to the year model.

hey rob can you let me know how that leveling kit works out? i've been on the fence about the same question. im not sure if the prg leveling kit or the prg mini lift kit (2" front and 1" or 1.5" rear)would be choice for me. i also was looking at the 3"RC lift kit, but apparently that might not be the best idea. i've been reading a ton of threads and trying to get ideas. i have an 08 so the stock UCAs have me curious about which to go with. thanks

Re: Mini lift or leveling kit?

Sure. Actually after I posted that I did a little shopping. Turns out I can get the 1.5" leveling kit from PRG, or the Mini lift kit off ebay for about the same price. I may go with the lift kit now. We'll see.

Re: Mini lift or leveling kit?

Hey guys, same story, have an '07 4X4 and want to fit a larger tire underneath. Is there much difference from the PRG kit and a cheaper kit? Will this affect my stock suspension? Will it compromise the smoothness of the ride? What is the largest I can go 2.5" or 3"
And one last question, can I fit 35" tires?

I am by no means an expert but I'll answer your questions based on my own findings.

I'm sure the PRG kits are better quality, but frankly, for what it is and what it does if I can get it for less than half the price you bet your butt I'm gonna do it. There are no moving parts to it. The only difference in some I've seen is that there are one's out there that appear to be two pieces of aluminum and seem like they would be a little more poorly constructed. Check out ebay they have some on there that look just like the prg's and that's what I'd recommend.

I believe for your model you can go 2" in front if you're leveling. Possibly 2.5" for the mini lift. I think 3 is too high.

Yes, with a leveling kit or mini lift you can definately fit 35's with no problems at all.

2" is the max you can run on the front. it will not affect the stock suspension or compromise smoothness. you can run 35's, but only on stock wheels or aftermarket wheels with close to the same backspacing as stock or you may have rubbing issues. you also might have to do a pinch weld mod to the front fenders. search pwm. my kit came from top gunz and i have not had any problems.

Re: Mini lift or leveling kit?

Thanks for the input. I did look up the PWM. I find pics to where it goes however that is all I find. Is it somethingthat needs to be purchased or just something that needs to be modified?

Re: Mini lift or leveling kit?

its a modification just basically folding back the inner liner so the tire has clearance when it turns. 2" is the max you can go up font since youre 4x4. the difference between a mini lift andf a level kit is that the mini lift is a level kit with a block in the rear to also raise the rear of your truck. 1" and 1.5" blocks are the possible options

Re: Mini lift or leveling kit?

I do have the Off Road Package which has the 17s, not the 18s. For what I understand I can't fit the 35s on the 17 in rim becuase it is too narrow. is this true?
