Why not get a 1" kit. It should not mess anything up and with more aggressive tires I bet the Titan would look damn good.

Didn't you know it was too good to be true. Just wait, all the shock manufacturers are bound to release something for the Titan soon enough. I'd like to get some Bilsteins or maybe the Ranch 9000x

ANY lift on the front end of a 4x4 titan without a differential drop kit and some method of correcting the rack and pinion angles is more than likely going to create problems down the road. You do not want to increase your CV or steering angles w/ an independent suspension or parts will wear out quicker. Only time will tell how much quicker though as there's plenty of guys running leveling kits now doing the testing already.

Personally I would not install a suspension lift of any sort on a Titan unless the CV angles and steering angles were both accomodated for.

FYI, the front ends of all new Trucks, large SUVs are lower to comply with new Federal (whatever) standards the basically say all vehicle front bumpers must be the same height, for crash purposes. They were having problems with larger, higher vehicles smashing smaller, lower vehicles and killing those occupants at a high percentage.

I wonder if some crazy insurance company would use that against someone with a lift kit on an '04 model of Ford or Nissan in case of headon collision with a small car. They could site the violation of Federal Standards by the owner against manufacturer's recommendations so the claim would not be payable..... Just a thought.....

I find this EXTREMELY hard to swallow !!! So, you are telling me my 350Z bumper (measured at approx. 16"off the ground - not lowered - and yes this was measured at the actual metal bumper, not the cover) is the same height as my Titan's from the factory ? I don't think so Tim !!! There is a minimum and maximum, but not a 1 size fits all !!! Just for arguments sake, compare:

Saleen S7 and Ford F250SD 4x4

No way in the world they are the same height.

How would lifting the titan affect the towing capability? Especially an 8" lift?

Well for one you normally increase tire size with a lift. Increased tire size = lower numerical final gear ratio, so you are reducing your titan's towing capacity there. Also larger(heavier) wheels and tires are more rotating mass which also reduces your engines performance and braking performance (which is very important when towing.) Another thing is that most lifts use lift blocks for the rear end lift. Lift blocks act as added leverage to axle wrap. During heavy loads you can really twist you springs more than they should or even worse you can damage you pinion, U-joints, or even pull the slip yoke from the transmission/transfer case. Of course you can prevent this with lift springs vs blocks or install ladder bars/traction bars. Another thing is to remember that you'll need a very tall drop hitch which is inherently weaker than a short one and causes extra stress to your receiver and rear frame. Obviously a 5th wheel is out of the question.

Naturally all this depends on how heavy you want to tow.

The Answer....Skyjacker

I've had the Skyjacker leveling kit on mine for about 10,000 miles and have NO problems. It comes with 2 spacers , so you will need a coil spring compressor to put one of them in. I picked it up in Louisiana at the headquarters (since its only 3 hours away) and talked to the guys face to face. They told me the way they made them you would'nt have the problems you would with the Daystar. This is a damn good company with the reputation to boot. And so far , all is good in the Titan !

Skyjacker VS Prerunner Greg's kit? PRG's kit seems to make more sense that the spacer combos...any ideas?

Skyjacker and the daystar are IDENTICAL. I've compared both at a local shop. I had the guy order both and we compared them. I returned the daystar and we saw they were completly the same. Then I got the PRG kit. Never looked back!!!

Here is the problem I live in New England and anything other than 4X4 is unacceptable.
OR package is a must for the E-locker.
I'm just worried about the long term effects on the CV's with any leveling kit.
hey 1Bad how are the HIDs workin for ya? who did you go with? you can PM me on that one as not to hijack the thread.
