CST 8" Lift - is it really 4"?

The CST lift comes with 4" rear blocks, but I am guessing lifts the front of the Titan somewhere around 8" to level out the back. I know that whenever Petersen's 4Wheel & Offroad lifts a truck, they take measurements before and after. I am wonder how much the Titan is actually lifted overall with the 8" CST lift. Is there any way we can get a picture of a stock Titan next to a CST lifted Titan? The reason I am asking is that 8" just seems like a lot to lift my truck, because I have to be able to get my bikes in the back, and the wife in the front On top of that, she does not like the idea of the truck being 8" taller - but then I show her pics of Dteks truck, and she thinks it looks good. Anyway, enough rambling from me - does anybody else out there think the same thing about the 8" CST lift?

From what I've read it is actually 8" front and 4" rear (with blocks.) You can always wait till later this year when ProComp and Fabtech come out with their 6" lifts and Rancho's 4".

From your experience, do you think the ProComp and FABTECH stuff is going to be as expensive as the CST lift? Don't get me wrong, I am after quality as well, but I know CST is one of the best in the business - and therefore fairly expensive. I know FABTECH makes a great product, but I don't want to wait very long. Also, I want to be able to clear 35" tires, and I am thinking that anything less than the CST 8" kit is going to require 33" or 34" tires.

Actually the 6" lifts clear 35" tires and the Rancho 4" claims to clear 35"s as well. The OEM tires are already 33" diameter and you can fit a 12.50 width with the 2.5 coil spacers. I don't have any personal experience with any of those brands. My old roomate has a 6" ProComp lift on his Z-71 and it was very good quality.

Thanks for the info Sammy, you seem to be the go-to guy around here for ALL my questions!!! So from your info, I am guessing all these lifts basically lift the truck about the same amount - they just call it different things because our truck has such an exagerated nose-dive stance to start with. I really don't want to wait, but maybe I will just start buying wheels and tires to spread the cost out a little instead of buy everything all at once. I am going to lift my truck though, and it will be my first lifted truck. I am like a kid in a candy store with all these pics of lifted Titans - I just want to see one in person!!

Yeah dude you definately have to see one in person to get the feel for it. 8 inches really isn't that big. They are definately a lot of bigger trucks out there. I don't really have a problem getting in the truck since i am 6'3 and my girlfriend is a foot smaller and she just grabs the handle to pull herself up so it's not that bad at all.

No, I wouldn't say they lift the truck the same amount, they are actually 4, 6, or 8 (or something close to it.) That usually refers to the front end lift, the rear is usually less on almost all lifts to achieve a level truck. The Titan can fit 35" tires with just 6" of lift up front, and according to the early report on the Rancho lift it only needs 4". Now I've also read that the Racho for the Ford 150 is also listed as 4" but is really 5" up front. They for some reason take the average of the front and rear lift or something of that nature.

The tires I have are basically 34 x 13 and they fit with a 2.5 inch lift. If I hit a very large bump while going fairly fast and my tires cut all the way in one direction is the only time I can get it to rub. I'm sure 35 inch tires would fit on any 4" and above lift. I am getting the Rancho lift as soon as its available.

Hey thanks for that pic man, that is exactly what I was looking for - and it doesn't look like as big as I thought. I think I am going to go with it pretty soon.

MXTitan - I was just discussing the CST and Procomp lift with an aftermarket truck parts retailer who deals with all the lift manufactures. His input was that the CST is the best (yes, at twice the price, $3200) of the lifts currently available now, and will probably always be one of the best. If your going to "use" it then get a CST. His opinion was that the Procomp, $1700, is best suited for street/show and light off road use only. Just some food for thought.

That is good to know - considering my truck will be an admitted street queen (2WD). I just love the looks of the Titans lifted. But I am also planning on keeping my Titan for a few years - so the quality of the CST might be worth the money in the long run. I also want to go with the full 8" in the front - I think anything less than that will make the 35" tires look too big. Thanks a lot for all the info guys, I appreciate it.
