Re: 4 in lift for 4x4's?

I realize that you dont gain any clearance because of the drop bracket, but having the truck body and most of the frame up out of the way makes offroading easier. If you were to do a 4" with the rancho, the drop bracket would be close to the same height as stock. This is also why i havent installed a 6" lift.

The 2wd have spindles; 4" lift and increased ground clearance.

You could go with a mid travel kit; i think they can be set close to 4". But be prepared to spend some serious coin.

Re: 4 in lift for 4x4's?

i just had the 5100's with 08 springs on middle perch, 2" PRG spacer and Rough Country Upper arms and even though it sat right the ride over big bumps was bad cause there wasn't much drop in the suspension. Now i have the same set up but the springs are on the bottom setting and it sits just about level and a lot softer ride with plenty of drop when going over big bumps. Also with the 2" spacer i put 2" bump stops. I don't wanna take it apart again for a while but i would go middle setting with 08 springs and a 1.5" spacer next time, should sit a little higher in the front with a firm but good ride.

I see what you are saying now, I understand how it all works just didn't understand what you meant.

Has anyone thought about what I just said about using older model coils to lower your bracket lift a tad? Zero reason why it wouldn't work and many people have been trying to find a way to get a ~4" bracket lift. Problem solved.

Not sure if it would work. The question for me is why would you pay for a bracket lift that provides 6" to turn around and spend more money to lower it to 4" of lift. Not to mention decreasing your suspension travel and making it ride like poop.

Seems silly to me when you can spend half the cost to get your 3-3.5" and a very comfy yet capable suspension set up.

With what your proposing you'd likely spend just as much as PRG's extended travel kit to gain the same amount of lift but only the stock suspension travel. Might as well do the extended travel package.

Re: 4 in lift for 4x4's?

I understand you could get an ext travel kit for that price, but at 4-4.5" IF at all possible, what are your CV angles gonna look like? Trash that's what. That's the only reason why I wouldnt go that route, Because that much lift without the drop bracket just won't work, with 4wd that is. This is the reason people with 4wd are looking for a 4ish inch bracket lift.

Re: 4 in lift for 4x4's?

I'm sitting at 40.5" all around. I'll probably put the smallest leaf of the C-10 back sometime soon for towing, and i should be at 41" in the rear.

25" from the center of the wheel to the middle of the fender. I need to get rid of these tiny tires. To anyone that is going for 3"+ of lift, get 34's or larger.

15" of ground clearance at the front crossmember. I measured at the flat plates inside of the front LCA bolts.
