So I got all the parts for my 3" lift, 5100s on middle setting with 1.5 front block, prg end links, RC UCAs, prg cam bolts and a 1.5 billet rear block. First I wanna double check that my rear shocks can handle the block for now till I can get the rear 5100s. And have I got everything I need ??
yep, should be able to from all the reading I have done. Make sure to post your pics! We are going to have essentially the same setup after you get your 5100's
Seriously though - some things I would add to your list, a can of wd-40 or pb blaster and start spraying those bolts your going to remove now, extra cotter pins for the spindle/UCA bolt, torque wrench if you don't have one, lithium grease for some of the fittings (are the uca's all greased up?) an electric impact wrench would help a ton if you don't have one, I picked one up for about $70.
The blocks are easier than doing a spacer on the strut. Takes me about 30 minutes to get them in with a buddy to help. That's the easiest part of the job.
I'll say this for you guys that are going to be doing the UCA's. First set that I did, we just went at it through the wheel well with anything we could fit in there around the brake lines on the driver side. Come in through the top, by taking out the air box or filter/heat shield if you have a CAI. You can come through the top that way, and get a good hook on the UCA bolts. The passenger side you can't do this, but it's easier to get at the bolts on the passenger side through the wheel well than it is on the driver side.
Other than that most of it is just making sure you have some extra hands to help. A rubber mallet is a good thing to have on hand also. When we did Quartz's 5100's last weekend, it was snug getting the bills to mount into the LCA. Couple hits with a rubber mallet, plus a jack to move the LCA up and down, got them in real quick. Those are the only real hard parts. You're looking at a 3-4hr install total for what most of you guys bought.
I went in on both throught the wheel well, tough to break them loose, but once it's done your good to go. Blocks are piece of cake, like PaPro4 says about 30 minutes a side. Leave the truck on the ground, remove the spring perch and shock, jack the truck up by the leaf spring (just in front of the axle) enough to slide the block in, lower and rebolt everything up.
I agree with Fishn. The UCA's are the hard part, and take the most time. Even alone, I think I did it in 4hrs. That was the second one I did and it is the same set up that you are doing. I have a pic of that truck somewhere. It was a 12' 2wd.
The one in front is a 12' 2wd running middle perch with a 1.5" spacer and RC UCA's, 1.5" block, and Duratracs. Mine is on the other side running just RC UCA's, a 2.5" spacer, 1.5" block, and still on stockers. I installed both lifts, and both took about 3-4hrs. I did the 2wd by myself and it took 4hrs tops.
