Got My Leveling Kit (not PRG though) + PICS

Here is what I got, PRG Don't kill me I know you make a really great kit man!

I ordered this right before I joined the forum, I looked at this one and the Daystar (Daystar was more expensive). I hope I made an ok decision. I plan to install it tomarrow and get the alignment this saterday. Good thing it's only 8 miles to work every day! Now All I need are some Bumpstops. (I know I know PRG kit comes with them )

At least you got this instead of the truck destroying Daystar kit. Good luck with the install and let us know what you think.

I'm wondering how you are going to torque the nuts holding the spacer to the top of the strut. Go you have an open end torque wrench?

Hmm I'm not sure what you mean, this is why I posted Pictures. How would torqueing these nuts be different than the PRG kit? My Friend is going to help me with the install he installs lifts for a living, so I'm sure I will come up with something. Like I said I already ordered this before I douns this forum and the PRG is not advertised anywhere so I did not know about it. if these are the Buts that require 25 lbs of torque I could probably do that by hand anyways. I have put alot of bolts on at about 22 lbs of torque before when working on my Banshee, and I don't think this is as critical as installing the head on a motor.

If this breaks I will be getting the 6 inch procomp lift. I plan to get that anyways i just figured I would wait till I needed new shocks.

BTW I had my dad looking at Titans himself (he needed a new truck also), but he got sucked in by the dodge dealer and purchased a 350 diesel. I hope it works out for him, im not sure why he bought such a huge beast. We Plan to tow a 21 foot Toy Hauler, I think he will have a much easier time than I will. From some of the towing posts I'm not sure the titan will even be able to tow it up the grade.I think it will be about a 7000lb load when full. Oh yea and this is for a 3 hour haul not anything short and simple.

If you are good at hand torquing, then no big deal I suppose. I'm not, so I used my torque wrench to make sure I was in spec. I'm not knocking the kit you bought, (I hope it works well for you) I just was not aware of your mechanic skills.

As for the difference, if you look at your spacer, you will see that you have to put the nut on the stud for the strut between the 2 plates of the spacer. There is no way I can see to get a normal socket/torque wrench in that small gap so you wil have to use a wrench. The PRG block is counter-sunk to allow the spacer to be bolted to the strut using a socket. See the second pic on this page: http://www.tscomputerservices.com/titan/PRGkit.html

Ok I think I see what you are saying. I thought you were talking about the nuts and bolts on top. I was guessing the Lock Nuts shown in the pic are the ones that need to be torqued to 25 foot lbs. I Think the ones you are talking about are the ones that need to be torqued to 125 ft lbs or maybe I have it backasswards. I don't have the directions with me though.

I think the design is different than what you are thinking or maybe not. Where there are countersinks in the PRG there are SOLID support posts on this one. it is hard to tell in the picture but the holes that are counter sunk on the PRG appear to be directly below the bolts on this Top Gun Customs kit. I have not installed either kit before so I am not eactly sure how it is all going to work, my Buddy said it looks really easy though. Might have to Micky Mouse it. I think I may be able to fit my torque wrench inbetween where the bolt is welded and the hole that is cutout on the bottom though, I will find out tonight!

Hey what do you expect for 1/2 the price heh...PRG kit sure does look good too.

doesn't the shock pass through that thing, though? Doesn't that make it just like the daystar kit except made of steel instead of rubber? Seems like it would overextend the strut just like the Daystar kit.

Can you put a crowsfoot on your torque wrench to get at the nuts?

No, that is a copy of the PRG design and it bolts above the top coil plate just like the PRG kit.

I'm not sure what a crows foot is?? so I know I don't have one! My Friend might though.

My Dad is having Buyers remorse, he wanted the titan I think but the dealership near him (Mossy Nissan), was not willing to bargin with him at all. And their prices are way over msrp to begin with. Oh well back to topic heh...

OK, thinking back to a Craftsman catalog I saw recently... Is that an open end wrench type attachment you can put on your torque wrench?

Yup. When you need to torque something from the side, like a fitting on a tube, this is what you use. What I'm not sure about is if there is enough height between the two plates to fit the torque wrench head in if the crowsfoot is short.

if you are super-mechanic then you find a chart for crows-foot conversions. the crows foot adds length to the torque wrench (in effect) and so you must compensate for the additional torque by subtracting a few inch pounds according the chart.

You can find them at most places that sell tools. I fact I saw a set at the auto parts store for $20. Not the best quality but will work for the seldom use.
