I just bought a cheap grinder and used the little cutting wheels. Makes sure you have a couple extra cutting wheels just in case. When you disconnect the bracket it is easiest to work on if you tie the drive shaft up and as far out of the way as possible. Try and keep the drive shaft lined up exactly as stock though when installing ( the template holes are off a little).Take your time on making sure the holes are drilled correctly. Another problem is when you put the aluminum spacers in the bracket and try to lower in place they fall out before you can run the bolts through, I super glued them in place after several attempts.lol. It worked though. Hope this helps.

Is there any trick to getting the driveshaft off cuz we seem to be having trouble with that?

Are you taking the drive shaft off?? I just pushed mine out of the way and used a piece of wire to keep it out of the way so I could work on the bracket.

Yeah, we ended up taking it off. We just had a couple of problems with the holes that were drilled since they didn't line up right so it too awhile to get it right. Other than that the part works good and it barely, if any at all, vibrates but i assume it's cuz i had a one inch spacer in the front. Definately a lot better though.

Yeah, getting the holes to line up correctly can be a B&*$@. Glad to see you got it working right though.
