Sounds like the rear tires are trying to break loose after lifting the rear

was told tonight that the drive shaft needs to be lowered and straightned out since I lifted the rear end. When I take off it sounds as if the tires are trying to break lose. Has anyone else had this problem? Don't know if there is any truth to this or if maybe it is because I went with a more aggresive tread pattern and the tires are trying to break loose upon acceleration?

No. And everytime I take off my tires try to break loose too. Damn horsepower - I should have bought a Ford.

What is the sound of "tires trying to break loose" ?

Yes, I and others have had this problem. If it is a hard vibration feeling from the rear end then it is the same thing as I and others have had. Pro Comp has a Carrier Bearing Adjustment Kit for this now, I think it is around $40 or so. This will take care of most of it but if yours is like mine, it won't eliminate it completely. I didn't get the kit though, they just cut mine out, lowered and re-welded it back on. If you go with the kit let me know how it works out for you.

Axle wrap according to Fabtech

I don't if this helps but, I asked Fabtech this problem today and they said that it's mostly a problem with 4x2's. The culprit is the angle of the the driveline after a lift. You can get a kit to lower the transfer case to solve the vibration and floating traction bar for the axle wrap or helper springs (just make sure you install it on the front of the spring towards the front of the truck).

says it helps eliminate vibration between 25 and 60 mph all my vibration / noise comes only upon accelaration from a stop and stops after the truck gets up to 5 to 10 mph. thats why i was trying to see if it was axel wrap or maybe the tires are just trying to spin.I'm going to call procomp in the morning if it is only 40.00 it be worth a shot.

That is where my problem was too, taking off from a stop. You can also ask who put the lift on to shim the springs also. This and lowering the carrier bearing WILL make a huge improvement.

That carrier bearing drop kitl looks interesting. I too have the problem of the vibration from starting from a stop. Let us know what they say neworleansmike. I am always low on cash and this is a good price if it can help the problem.
