Question on Jettech's spring mod.

First, let me start by yes I have it on my 2005 SE 4X4.
But in putting this $24 spring mod on I think everyone notices that yes this works but we would really like some spring shop thats on the ball to build us some proper sets! 1. It would be nice if we had one that bolted up almost right in front of our spring shackles where the springs are already compressed. 2. Shouldn't it apply the wind up torque to the spring eye and not to the spring just in front of the eye like the mod does. 3. Maintain the contour or better of the mod spring. 4. We would then get our old spring rates back and kill the windup problem all in one.
You suspension guys have any input on this? Has anyone approched any spring shops on this mod for our trucks?

Re: Question on Jettech's spring mod.

Slap on a set of PRG's traction bars and be done with it. A lot more than $24 but a thousand times better, also. Those little helper spring do-dads are a band-aid fix at best.

Re: Question on Jettech's spring mod.

HMMMMM-$484.00 vs $23.54..............Best $23.54 band-aid I've ever bought. Can't speak for everyone that has mod but it fixed my axle wrap, which is what I was trying to accomplish. Had it for a while and still holding up. Others had theres longer and no probs. A traction bar may be designed for this exact application but as long as a leaf spring helper mounted in front of the axle solves the problem I'll keep using it. He** @ $23.54 I could buy 20 sets and still be ahead. Just a thought.............

Not sure why you would want 20 sets..... But then again I have never been the type to put on a band aid. Much rather spend the money to fix it right.

I had the helpers on and took them off. I could not get rid of the rattle from the front bands, and did not like the fact that they lowered the rear end.

After talking with Greg I am going with DR's / Total Chaos arm in the front and Deaver / Blisteins in the rear with traction bars to follow shortly after.

Greg has a killer package deal going on this kit. Give him a call tell him want you are looking for in the ride quality/lift and he will take care of you. He has a ton of knowledge.

Re: Question on Jettech's spring mod.

Yea, not planning on getting 20 sets, just making a point. If for some reason the helpers wore out over time or broke (?) which I don't see happening, that I could just get another pair and not be out almost 500 bones. I'd be out say.....$47.08 as opposed to $484.00....NOt downing anyone by any means, just making a point. I have had no issues w/ the helper fix at all or anyone that does.t believe in it. Like I said, it improved my handling and feel tremendously. I'm sorry you had to remove yours, I guess everone is different and every truck is diiferent. I know I had very bad axle wrap and it was more of a nuisance than an actual performance problem. The constant clunk at acceleration and stopping was nerve racking to say the least. I just can't see putting down almost 500.00 for an issue that I was able to solve for 23.00. Different strokes for different folks. If ya got it spend it cuz ya can't take it with you. I do not have any type of lift or suspension upgrade so maybe the spring helpers aren't worthy when you upgrade to better shocks or a lift, I don't know. I know they work for me and I do not consider them a band aid, that's what someone else referred to them as. I was using their terminology for effect.
I hope your suspension upgrade goes well and you enjoy it, I know you will. I've heard nothing but positive things about PRG products and Greg. Best of luck and post some pics when it's complete so we can share in your excitement....

Re: Question on Jettech's spring mod.

No problem. Did not intend to sound like I was downing you at all. I did not like the feel/ride after the helpers also.

It's to bad Nissan did not design the rear springs correctly to start with. On the positive, because of the poor design we get Greg and that is a good thing for all.

Re: Question on Jettech's spring mod.

keep it in mind it will lower the rear about 1/2-3/4 inch. also check those bolts regularly. I didn't and lost 1. It does make a huge difference over those freeways bumps.
