Tried some 20s, need PRG asap...

Hi there, yesterday I went to my local Toyo dealer to try 20" rims and 305x55 Toyo Open Country AT, the tire barely rubbed(scratched would be too much, touched only) the plastic just above the mud guard, one of the workers there said that it wouldnt be a problem and that I only needed to put a cinch in that plastic liner to hold it backwards so that the tire would hit it.

Is that a doable thing?

Just about everyone here that has done 20's and new tires has had some sort of rubbing issues. All of which were corrected. The plastic lining on the inside can be cut or even re-shaped with heat. Several on here have taken just such an approach and had good results.

Take off the plastic, behind it you will see a pinch weld that keeps the plastic from pushhing in. Grind this pinch weld down and you will be able to pick up a little more clearance. I just pop rivited the plastic trim back to keep it fitting snug inside the fender well

Yeah, what Mike said, but I used a heat gun to "reform" the fender liner back rather than the poprivets.
