Rancho RSX update....

Just got off the phone with Rancho AGAIN.......
Now they are saying November for our Titan Coil-overs.....what a friggin JOKE!!!! Last Novemeber it was December, then January, then February....you get the picture.....

Furthermore in order to use them you need to disassemble your factory coil-over and re-use your springs......

Furthermore they can't be adjusted on the vehicle like a normal adjustable coil-over would be.....you actually have to to take them apart and adjust them that way....sounds like a whole day of F**ing around to me...?

Question for Pre-Runner Greg.....

I am interested in the following:
Fox coil-overs....upper arms and a set of rear shocks..I was going to put a complete Rancho system including the incab remote but it sounds like they aren't going to be available EVER!!!

Sounds like a poor way of doing things.

I had just spoken with them this morning and the lady I talked to said she had to find out from the engineer when they would be available. Now I guess I don't have to wait for her to call me back!!!

Well, the other options are a whole lotta money. I would bet these Ranchos are a lot cheaper. If they aren't, then nobody is going to buy them.

I had a local shop quote me the Triple X shocks.... $199.00 each. The back RSX9000 are $99.00 each.....

Being that we will have to use our coils or order a spair set from Nissan adds another $200.00 or so. All of a sudden the Fox, Donahoe Swayaway dont seem so expensive!!!!

The ranchos will cost $600.00 for the fronts if you get some spair coils!!!

Triple X is a threaded body adjustable coil-over...the other one is just a shock with a welded on spring seat...

You can download the complete 2005 catalog off Ranchos web that shows all the shocks and even lists the part numbers (that you can't get yet) for the Titan..

I wonder what is taking so friggin long??? I mean come on....last November 8th BIG press release that they are right around the corner for the Titan, F150, Explorer....there is a whole list. NONE of them are out yet..??? kinda strange dont you think?

I got a call back from Rancho this afternoon. They said that they are waiting on another test fit, they weren't happy with the first. That is why they didn't make the May 1st release date. They are supposed to try this sometime next week. If it all goes well she said the new release date would be July 1st. So who knows? It is anyones guess at this point I think.

Cool, thanks. So apparently you could level the truck w/o any lift kit using the Triple - X shocks? Any disadvantages to this approach in contrast to using PRG's lift kit?

Many advantages:
1) slightly more travel (according to Rancho)
2) adjustable ride quality via turn knob or in cab remote
3) adjustable hight from 0-2.5"

Disadvantage:
1) good luck getting some
2) need to disasemble the shock to adjust height (not normal)
3) need to use factory coil spring

I’m with pisswilly.
Fox coil-over here I come.
I figure my Daystar lift may have put a little to much pressure on my stock springs.

Read the warning he gives about the Rancho RS9000 series.
http://www.titantalk.com/forums/show...6&postcount=20

You can also follow the 1st link in my sig to learn more about PRG's adjustable FOX 2.5" coil-overs, that one of his posts in that thread states they will be complete bolt-in kits, w/Eibach coil springs. He is also working on an upper a-arm mode that with these, will give 3.5" lift to a 2wd or 3" to a 4x4.

BTW, in another thread he stated he is also investigating a Bilstein front coil-over option, but isn't sure about them yet , but will in a couple of weeks. These will be around half as much as the Fox c.o.

For the rear the Bilstein 5100 series he modifies the mounting for, are less $ than the Rancho RS9000X.

Yes PRG new kit would be awsome but at $1,000 not cheap for the average guy like me... I would rather have 6" of height with a lift that would add more looks and keep the oem coilovers since Im not a Baja racer, even tough I do alot of rutted roads here in the Desert of Sonora but not @ 60mph... Since its also a family truck, I would rather have adjustable ride like the RSX shocks have with the incab adjustement control...

Well if the lifted look is what you care about, I understand your point of view. I love the looks of 6" lifted trucks, but would never own one unless I was rich enough I didn't have to drive it as my main vehicle.

But the cheaper 6" lifts are still not cheap, even w/o a coil-over upgrade. There also seems to have been a lot of issues with these. The CST lifts are the way to go for the 6" lifts, but they are way more $$$.

The Rancho lifts are only a 4", not sure on their price, but most are $1400 and don't come with shocks. If not you'll have to add another ~$400 for the Rancho coil-overs if you want them, plus the rears for $200. Your at $2,000 already!

So, with PRG you pay less for higher quality.
Also, you'll be getting a much better on-road and off-road ride, and pay quite a bit less than a 4" or 6" lift, by time it is complete.

Check out Greg's Titan. If you take off the 35" MTs and put on some stock size 33" ATs or MTs, that is going to look a lot more lifted. This is with the upper a-arm protos, which allow 1" more lift on the Fox, so around 3" for the 4x4 & 3.5" for the 2wd.
http://www.titantalk.com/forums/show...52&postcount=3

Good luck with whatever you choose.
