Fox coilovers are now installed...

Went to Greg's tonight and had the factory Rancho's with PRG leveling kit pulled out and the Fox coilovers put in. Picked up another 1/2"-1" in ride height, and the Fox's ride better also. I haven't had a chance to put them to work yet, but once I do I'll let everyone know how they work.

It seems I am the 1st truck to have them without combining them with another lift (like CST, Rancho, etc.), and the 1st 2wd of any configuration (other than Greg himself) to have the coilovers.

Update:

Drove the truck to work today and hit all the familiar dips, bumps, potholes and the like. The Fox's just gobble them up like nothing. The front end is working awesome! It's time to start looking for some larger ones...

So, you got the regular height coilovers, not the 6" extended ones?

That's surprising since the un-lifted versions are only available on the 2wd. [The lifted version is available for both 2wd and 4x4].

But a lot of people want lifted if they are going to spend the bucks. Lifted does make sense for trails and hill climbing, because of the better approach and departure angles. The actual ground clearance to lowest point is tire-based so a 35" tire is only an inch more than a 33" tire.

For general purpose, and fairly decent dirt road, the Fox coil overs sound trick. For us un-lifted 4x4s, we will have to wait for the Donahoe coil overs, or maybe the Sway-a-way/Racerunners.

Pt actually bought my old set of foxes, for all of you waiting they are still on backorder (less than a week as of yesterday, i hate waiting). But good news for the 4x guys, i just got a new lower spring retainer that will allow the foxes to be used on a stock height - 3" raised 4x, woo hoo.

Greg, I assume that this is still adjustable from ?" to 3" of lift on the 4x

Is that correct?

Pauly, how are you liking the Bilsteins with the big tow and FOX combo?

Also Greg any progress on the upper A-arm replacement?

I'm trying. Someone borrowed the camera and hasn't returned it yet. I'll try to take some at work today with the company camera and get them posted.

That's correct.

I've had enough of the "tall" 6"+ suspension systems, especially on a 2wd. I'd much rather stay around 3-1/2" with a suspension that looks better than stock, works better than stock, clears 35's (although I'll stick with 33's until someone makes a lower set of gears), and is durable enough to handle virtually anything I through at it. I love the look of the 6"-8" lifts (like yours Austin...thats a nice looking truck!) but they don't do what I need them to do.

So far I like them alot. This truck rides and handles really well on the road. I haven't towed with the Foxes yet, but the Bilsteins have been awesome. They are much firmer than the stockers, which helps when towing, but they still ride better when unloaded.

My problem now (not really a problem, just another bump on the road to a perfect suspension) is the rear springs. I need to get the Deavers on with a set of airbags so I have that smooth, almost car-like ride when unloaded and while tearing up the fire roads then can pump-up the bags to help support and control the load of my trailer. Greg has a set of the Firestone bags in his garage that he's going to put on his 4x2. If all goes well I guess I'll have come up with another $500 and just finish the rear.

Ah ha... apparently I was a day late in asking Greg about buying his old Fox Coilovers... always a day late and a dollar short.

PT....still in a holding pattern on front struts... told the dealer what happened and how I did it.. he was pretty sure that the strut should have handled the twisting.. looking into what he can do for me.

If I can get a new replacement @ little to no cost.. I'll look into it. I hate the idea of spending money on replacement struts and getting the "Same old OEM" ride. If I'm gonna spend some money, AFTERMARKET is the way to go.

To get back on topic.. We need PHOTOS!...

Hows it go.. TTIWWP ?

No problem. I'll hang on to them a little while longer before listing them in the buy/sell forum.

I'm in total agreement with you there. I hate replacing "adequate" stuff with an "adequate" replacement. I always try to go "better".

better is the only way to go!!! hey pauly, you've got to be lovin' those fox's huh? i drove the mighty PRG titan and as i've said in a another post, wet myself while experiencing the superb suspension characteristics of the coilovers/upperarms/PRG deaver springpack combo. omg, is it day and night versus the oem stock setup. can't wait for the upgrades myself!!! as greg stated, "i hate waiting!!!!!!"

good to see your titan getting outfitted with the best stuff!! take care Pauly!!
