Axle Wrap and Rear Diff

Can axle wrap on our Titan possibly contribute to the rear end failures?

Sorry if this has been answered but my search turned up too many hits.

Re: Axle Wrap and Rear Diff

It is generally known that wheel hop is hard on differentials.

Re: Axle Wrap and Rear Diff

Will it be any less harsh on the diff if traction bars were installed, given all other factors being equal?

This has been on my mind for weeks and I've been afraid to stomp on the gas from a stand still. I've also been waiting for what seems like ages for Greg's street traction bars.

PRG's traction bars get good reviews, so yes, I assume the street version will also be effective. Even the $22 helper springs have controlled my wheel hop when taking 90 degree corners to a very substantial degree.

Re: Axle Wrap and Rear Diff

Hi Greg and expert members here, I just did a google and found this: http://www.4x4wire.com/jeep/tech/susp/axlewrap/

Was wondering if someone could comment on this in respect to the following:

1. Can our Titan's excessive axle wrap in combination with our high lowend torque be a major contributor to the rear end failures (for folks who frequently like to stomp on it from stop)?

2. Article claims one bar between under-axle and frame is not completely effective against axle wrap. How effective is your (Greg's) new street traction bars? Is there a different cost-effective design that will be more effective like the other designs discussed in the article?

Sorry I'm not technical enough and thus asking these questions.

Re: Axle Wrap and Rear Diff

Update:

I've asked this question on Cl*btitan and Greg graciously answered that axle wrap would not contribute to our rear failures.

Re: Axle Wrap and Rear Diff

As a side note, i just read some of the posts about axle wrap and wheel hop, the wrap itself should not hurt the rear, but wheel hop is a killer. Ive seen 35 spline spooled 9" rears destroy themselves becasue of wheel hop. If it happens, let off on the throttle and try a bit lower tire pressure, at least this works great in the dirt.
