Can front level kits hurt your suspension?

Hey guys...first off let me say I dont own a Titan....I just got a 2005 2wd Sierra this summer. I visit this forum because Titans are cool, and it has alot of good info on it that can be applied to other trucks. Anyhow, as I said my Sierra is a 2wd and I'd love to put a 1.5" front coil spring spacer kit (aka leveling kit) on it and run slightly larger tires. I believe the kit I was looking at was made by Donohoe. I see alot of you guys run leveling kits on here. My question is, can a front kit prematurely wear out or put undue strain on your front suspension over time?? I've heard it can put strain on certain components because it puts things at a different height/angle......please note I am just starting to learn the ins and outs of suspension and am not too knowledgable about it!! Any advice you could provide would be awesome, thanks for listening.

Paul

Re: Can front level kits hurt your suspension?

Paul, evey truck is different. Toyotas are very difficult to keep alive using a leveling kit, 1/2" too much and your cv's are gone. too much on the f-150 and the upper arm tries to push the spring off its seat. Titans are very over built and the cv's and ball joints arent even close to being maxed-out. Are you sure about the Donahoe leveling kit for a sierra? Im pretty sure they just build them for f-150's and toyotas. All the current levleing kits for the titan (except the daystar/procomp style kits) dont prematurly wear any components.

Re: Can front level kits hurt your suspension?

Il recap here very quickly, but there are alot of threads about it here and elsewhere. The Daystar kit adds prelaod to your coil and make the ride considerably rougher and leaves the shock early extended at ride height. It also takes about 3 times the time to install becasue you have to break-down your strut assembly. There are a few kits similar to mine on the market now, where the spacer simply bolts to the top of the strut assembly. And, although mine is the most through and is truck specific, these type of kits are better than the daystar-type kits in about every aspect.
