Newb Questions on lifting titan

ok I have 4x2 titan and originally was going for a street truck but I have recently changed my mind to save up money for a lift kit nothing huge probably 4-6 inches. so here goes my questions

1. which lift would everyone recommend

2. I have done plenty of suspension work on imports so would it be a good enough idea for me to install the lift myself?

3. what kinda jack do you all use once your truck is lifted 6 more inches off the ground? does a standard floor jack work any more?

thanks in advance for the help

Re: Newb Questions on lifting titan

i have been searching for the best do it yourselfer for remedially skilled like me. so far, the 4"performance kit has been winning the mind war when it comes to the pros and cons.
the hilift jack comes with various attatchments now to lift a truck. i have the one where 2 hooks lift up on your rims.
good luck

Re: Newb Questions on lifting titan

thanks I am not too worried about the work it self as I have rebuilt multiple suspensions even turning some car from 4 lug patterns to 5 lug but I figured since I have never actually lifted a truck it would be best to ask questions lol

If you're changing a flat, you'll probably need a bumper attachment as well. I second the 4" Perfomance lift as you can buy and install it in stages, say start with mini lift (leveling kit with rear blocks), then add Deavers/TC uppers/Coilovers later.

Re: Newb Questions on lifting titan

sounds like a good plan as I do like the ability to do it in stages

Re: Newb Questions on lifting titan

Any of the subframe type kits (cst, fabtech, pc, rancho) will only be few inches taller under the front x-member than a stock truck. The rear axle the same (just 1/2 the difference in tire height over stock) so any floor jack will work. jacking under the frame will be about 5" taller than usual.

Re: Newb Questions on lifting titan

Think about this...lift for the sake of lift is just bling-bling crap! The biggest tire the Titan should run is a 35", and all you need is enough lift to run them(4inchs). You should concentrate on ride quailty with better shocks and such.
