Front End Noise

Has anyone ever experienced a kind of grinding noise in the front end when ever doing a tight turn to the stops? I have an 8 inch CST lift and when ever I do a tight turn I hear the metal on metal. It usually happens when I do a tight turn and there is an upslope like a driveway.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: Front End Noise

do you have aftermarket wheels? what size? could be your tires rubbing the inner fender.

Re: Front End Noise

Its most likely one of two things. The tie rod rubbing on the wheel/rim or the tie rod rubbing on the coil spring assembly. Where are you located? i can tell you in about 15 seconds what is is if I can see it.

Re: Front End Noise

What about one of the strut bolts being turned around and grinding the swaybar? (Bolt end facing the front of the truck rather than the back) This happended to me until I noticed what it was.

Re: Front End Noise

Yes I do have aftermarket tires and wheels.
I have 20x9 Ice metal wheels on 35 x 12.5 x 20 Toyo MT's.

I live in Chino Hills Ca.( San Bernardino County) and if anyone could help I would really appreciate it.

Thanks in advance.

You're really close to PRG - he's in Riverside. I drove right by Chino Hills on my way out there yesterday from LA.

Re: Front End Noise

Or it could be the steering stop caps are worn out and causing them to rub on the lower control arm. They are cheap to replace. Just pry the old ones off and hammer the new ones on.

Re: Front End Noise

On the CST kit you use a modified stock swaybar endlink, its much less bulky than the rancho parts, it coulnt hit the bolt. also, that bolt should bearly clear the shock tabs, any chance they used the lower ball joint bolt for the shock bolt as its a bit longer. And I dont thenk there are any stop caps on this set-up. The cst fabricatied spindle will rub on the bracket for the sway bar mount, metal to meatal with nothing between.
