2wd with Fabtech & dirt logics

Well guys...I have been reading, and reading and reading this forum...I told prg its high time to give back to it. You guys have helped me out BIG TIME with my truck!! But first a question!!! LOL!! I am going to install a fabtech kit on my 2wd per greg's advice. I am also installing fabtech's coilovers ONLY because I got a great deal on the kit. I ordered bilsteins, deavers, brake lines and pro-comp driveshaft dropdown bracket from prg also. My burning question is this...Has anyone installed fabtech's coilovers on a 2wd?? Fabtech's desk jockeys say they won't work. GREG THE MAN says they will work. I know he is right, I guess i am looking for reassurance. Georgia is a long way from cali!! Thanks for all the info guys and I will post the install along with all the greasy details!!

Re: 2wd with Fabtech & dirt logics

another lift assisted by PRG. welcome to the board. I had Greg install mine but coilovers for Fox and DR are exactly the same for 2wd and 4wd so why wouldn't the Fabtechs fit? Probably those desk guys never touched them before or don't want to claim liability. They would have said something about that procomp drop down too I bet.

if Greg says yes then you can be 100% sure it's accurate. The man cares about his reputation and nobody on 4 titan message boards have said otherwise about him. I've heard some callers he has taken care of and I can say I would have hung up on those guys.

so no worries and take pics of the completed install.

Re: 2wd with Fabtech & dirt logics

prg is updating his site so it could have them. he gets a lot of new ideas and more parts quickly so that's another reason.

Re: 2wd with Fabtech & dirt logics

I sell procomp, fabtech, cst, and rancho. I have installed many of each. Our site is really not up to par, we are more of a service-based company with our site being secondary. Since we offer package pricing on just about every order and each order is usally a custom package, its best to just call.

Re: 2wd with Fabtech & dirt logics

The only difference would be that the spring rate may be a bit high on thier coilovers. I dont know what they have gone with. but i assure you that if it fits ona 4wd, it will fit on a 2wd. maybe not the other way, but for sure it will go. Or you could always opt for a set of DRE's.

Re: 2wd with Fabtech & dirt logics

I was at a social gathering last night and the lead engineer form Fabtech suspension dept was there ( an old firend of mine and i didnt even know he was there now) and I got he scoop on the reason they say the 4wd coilover swont work on a 2wd, it will sit too tall. They use too long a coil for the weight of the 2wd. I have not installed these myself, so im not sure what exactly they think is "too tall" though. but thay will infact bolt right up but the spring is ont he tall side.

Re: 2wd with Fabtech & dirt logics

Is the body of the Fabtech shock not threaded? I would think you could make some adjustment downward or is it already at it's lowest setting?

Re: 2wd with Fabtech & dirt logics

It is threaded, but they use a longer spring on the 4wd (from the parts bin) that you cant back the preload of enough to get it to sit level.

Re: 2wd with Fabtech & dirt logics

Greg, thanks for checking into that for me. My question is this now, would I continue to go with that kit, and just install a taller block with the deavers i ordered from you, or possibly change to a shorter spring on the shock(if its available from fabtech). A little more height does not bother me AT ALL but would this be safe? Thanks again everyone and greg too.
