dr coilovers raised to the full 3"

Any feedback, especially with pics would be great. I trying to decide on a lift and would like to go the way of the dr coilovers using the full 3". I just don't know if the truck will look lifted enough. I'm not tryong to do anything extreme, but I don't want it to look like, "did u put a lift on your truck?????"
Thx Jim

Re: dr coilovers raised to the full 3"

I'd also be interested in knowing the on-road drive quality and feel of the DR's cranked to the fullest. I have a 1" block and deaver springs in the back, along with the Drs and TC upper arms in the front (this is PRG's 4" Peformance Lift). I also have the traction bars in my garage, awaiting to be installed in a week or two. I'd like to level the truck by lifting the front end a little more unless, of course, this would have a negative effect on the drive. Any thoughts?

Re: dr coilovers raised to the full 3"

I put the DRs, bilsteins, and Deavers on and you can definetely tell a difference. People ask me how much of a lift I have. I isn't necessary a HUGE difference like it is with a 6 inch lift but the truck does look bigger. Here are some pics.
The difference in ride quality is significant. It is not as smooth when driving over bumps in the road slowly, but when you hit the bumps at a higher speed it is the same. Off road quality is similar but you still will not bottom out these coilovers. I hit some bumps at about 25-30 and got the front end off the ground (off roading) and it was still relatively smooth. If you want the coilovers to remain quiet and smooth keep them at the 2 inch stock height. But, if you decide to jack them up, you will still be impressed.
Sorry the pics suck, we are in a winter storm right now. I will get much better pics when the weather is better and my winch bumper is installed.

Re: dr coilovers raised to the full 3"

I have the preload on my DR coils maxed. Works great, no issues.

You might already have these ...
With the TC upper a-arms you can get the PRG custom spacer for the DREs, adding another inch in the front without cranking the DREs out of their best operating range.

Re: dr coilovers raised to the full 3"

I just installed Greg's 4" kit. DR plus spacer, TC arm, Deaver pac and Bilsteins.

Does anyone know what the measurement from the top of the DR spring collar to the lip at the top of the threads should be from the factory? Also what is the max they can be set at. My fender height is off by 1/2" from left to right and I want to get another 1/2" over all height out of them. I am concerned about getting to aggressive on the pre-load. I put two full rotations of additional pre-load on the DR's during the install.

Interested if anyone has pushed it and how it affected ride quality.

Also if I have had my alignment performed does adding a couple of turns of pre-load or removing a couple of turns affect the alignment enough to get it redone?

Re: dr coilovers raised to the full 3"

I would think the camber would be slightly off. Still, alignments are cheap insurance against replacing worn tires early, in case you do tweak the suspension a little. When I replaced my Daystars with the DREs, the camber was the only thing they adjusted, since the stock DREs don't lift the front as much as the 2.5" Daystars I had on.
