Toolbox loses... to remove the leaf spring
Try this mod:
I drilled a hole in my box in order to get the bolt out....WHAT did he say DRILL yes I did. It was a one inch hole about 8.5" from left inside edge and 2" down from upper shelf support. Using a 1' hole saw or wood bit will do the trick.
I bought these 2" GM hood washers from Orileys (see pic & part #). You will need one package and two for this job. But there are 3 in the box just in case you mess one up. Any how to make them work just drill out the center of one to fit the plug of the other that will be inserted in the hole. Basically your making a self closing sandwich connection between the inside and outside toolbox wall.
In my pictures two holes were cut as my helper was not much of a measurer after those 2 buds he had...anyway my fit is not perfect but yours can be. The good thing about this mod is that you can reuse the hole later if you don't glue it but silicone works great or nothing at all.
Anyhow there it is a short cut for those moding and removing leaf spring parts with a tool box.
